You'll love these, from the DU ad headers: Bush quote/ring tones!
some good ones from Rumsfeld and Cheney, too. A recognizable treasure trove. you don't have to pay to download them to your phone (feel free, if you want); you can just click on the icon, and listen to them

some familiar favorites:

"We must stop the terror. I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killings. Thank you, now watch this drive." $1.99
George W. Bush (3) Nashville, Tennessee September 17, 2002

"There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again." $1.99
George W. Bush (4) Buffalo, NY
April 20, 2004

"...now by the way, anytime you hear the United States government talking about wiretap - it requires, a wiretap requires a court order..." $1.99
George W. Bush (5) Washington, D.C.
August 5, 2004

and my favorite pleonasm (sorta) from Rumsfeld:

Department of Defense
news briefing
February 12, 2002

"The message is - that there are known knowns: there are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns, that is to say there are things that we now know we don't know, but there are also unknown unknowns: there are things we do not know we don't know and each year we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.."

you can listen to all of them here, and maybe download one:

1. I actually think rummy's "knowns" quote makes sense
In a kind of corporate epistemological way.

It doesn't say a damn thing, ultimately, but it makes sense.

6. I've thought the same thing, after reading it awhile ago, but it STILL
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 07:24 PM by Gabi Hayes
is bizarre.

somebody put his quotes together as poetry

have you seen that?

I'm sure I saw it here, but it was some time ago

well....that took all of ten seconds:

The Unknown

As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know
We don't know.

Feb. 12, 2002, Department of Defense news briefing

Glass Box

You know, it's the old glass box at the
At the gas station,
Where you're using those little things
Trying to pick up the prize,
And you can't find it.
It's

And it's all these arms are going down in there,
And so you keep dropping it
And picking it up again and moving it,
But

Some of you are probably too young to remember those
Those glass boxes,
But

But they used to have them
At all the gas stations
When I was a kid.

11. I use it in my disaster planning course ...
The students laugh themselves sick when I put up a photo of Rummy with that quote underneath (and even more when I put on a poker face and deconstruct the logic). But they do remember it.

7. ''HEY, baby! Put down that pipe....and get MY pipe UP!''
I actually ordered his audio book from my library....they had to send away for it....just so I could hear him read the same parts, like the above, that they used to read on Majority Report.

Steph Miller plays the pipe one all the time

do you listen to her?

I LOVE it when she imitates his voice:

''D'aaaalllll right!''
