How many days of vacation has * taken?
I thought for certain he had taken more than any recent president. But then someone posted this data on another debate board. Of course it doesn't look good for Poppy, but I'm just curious:

President Jimmy Carter (D) Georgia:
79 Days (over 1 term - 4 years)

President Ronald Reagan California:
335 days (over 2 terms - 8 years)

President George H. W. Bush Texas:
543 days (over 1 term - 4 years)

President William J. Clinton (D) Arkansas:
152 days (over 2 terms - 8 years)

President George W. Bush Texas:
250 days (as of Aug. '03, less than one term!)

2. Where did these numbers come from?
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 04:09 PM by AllegroRondo
I had heard on another web site that W broke the record earlier this year, and that the previous record holder was Reagan.

(edit)
Ah - as of August '03, didnt see that part.

3. Note: "As of Aug '03"

The other numbers are given for one or two four-years terms.

Averaging those numbers above per president, per year in office:

Carter - 20 days per year vacation time
Reagan - 44 days per year
Bush I - 68 days per year
Clinton - 19 days per year

Based on being in office for 2.75 years at the time this was calculated (as of Aug 2003), Bush II comes in at 91 DAYS PER YEAR.

I'd say that's a record.

4. Looks like Baby Bush
learned the importance of vacations from Poppy Bush. All that prezudentin' is hard werk, after all! Well, unless you're a Democrat, I guess. Then you just take the work in stride and don't need as much rest and recuperation.

Aren't Democrats supposed to be the lazy ones? Ha! Another Republican myth exploded! :nuke:

6. Vacationing Bush Poised to Set a Record (2005)
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/20...

Until now, probably no modern president was a more famous vacationer than Ronald Reagan, who loved spending time at his ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif. According to an Associated Press count, Reagan spent all or part of 335 days in Santa Barbara over his eight-year presidency -- a total that Bush will surpass this month in Crawford with 3 1/2 years left in his second term.

7. Those numbers aren't accurate....
I don't believe. Past ones I saw had Bush Sr. at about 243. Find a credible source.
