Antonin Scalia holds you and me in contempt
Scalia spoke Saturday in front of the National Italian American Foundation in Washington. The talk didn't a lot of attention -- given Scalia's history of allowing media access, we should be grateful that it got any coverage at all -- but it has been picked up and promoted over at Editor and Publisherhttp://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/search/article_display... .

It should get a lot of attention, though, because what Scalia said is outrageous, even by the standards of a Supreme Court justice who has done and said many outrageous things over the years.

Here's what Scalia said:

"You talk about independence as though it is unquestionably and unqualifiably a good thing," Scalia said. "It may not be. It depends on what your courts are doing....The more your courts become policy-makers, the less sense it makes to have them entirely independent."

Scalia expressed disdain for the news media and the general reading public and suggested that together they condone inaccurate portrayals of federal judges and courts. "The press is never going to report judicial opinions accurately," he said.

2. Scalia's typical ongoing neocon rhetoric.........
DAMN GOOD reason for TERM LIMITS for SCOTUS justices, specially those that are out of touch with the majority of Americans!!! THE 'life time appointment' of the SCOTUS JUSTICES is one of America's ALL TIME greatest mistakes.

4. When Tom Delay's appeal got to the SCOTUS
he was screwed. Scalia heard the arguments and the appeal was promptly denied. So much for the "activist judges Delay used to rail about.
