66% of Americans think the election will be stolen!
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 01:36 PM by garybeck
This segment from Lou Dobbs last week is amazing. Not only do they demonstrate how easy it is to steal an election, but about half way through the segment, they release poll results showing that 66% of Americans believe there will be "inaccurate results from electronic voting machines caused on purpose by hackers." Other poll questions show a majority of people simply do not trust the machines. AND RIGHTFULLY SO.

my comment - we need to start differentiating between "hackers" and "riggers" but this segment is great and it shows that people are starting to wake up. the question now is, what are we going to do about it???

2. The gop hopes it will blow up on us.
There's a good chance we will sweep this election, barring any hoo-hah in the next two weeks. When that happens, they can then claim the elections were stolen from them. We must do everything we can to make sure we aren't the ones caught tampering.

the concern is that the GOP will maintain control because of election fraud! Not that the Dems will win and the Reps will accuse them of it?!?!?!?

7. There is too much spotlight to risk fraud this time.
If two thirds of Americans are already convinced the elections are tampered with two weeks before an election where the republican hold on state and local government is seriously endangered, likely with a broad margin in most cases, they would have to be stupid to use direct tampering to win, and they're not (at least, not the ones planning the strategy). Instead, they'll point to the massive change in direction of votes and say that it's too extreme not to be tampering by the Democrats, and they'll point to anything shady anyone remotely connected to us and the elections do and blast it all over the media as proof, thus it would blow up in our face. We have to make sure they fail when they do this.

the polls show the Dems winning. It's when the polls are different from the results that poeple suspect a problem. I don't think the Repubs will try something stupid like that.

in '04 we had more people register and vote than in decades!! people were pissed and we voted Bush out.

the real problem is the media, who reported that it was a clean election. In Ukraine, the media just reported the facts. that's all we need here.

It does NOT exist here. When it happens the media will do nothing but report with a right-wing slant. Like in 2000, 2002, and 2004.

17. Ok, so if the Dems take back Congress by a few seats
will they be saying that it wasn't stolen enough or too little? Is this a setup for Bush to call the election nul and void until final results are investigated (unlike the past two elections?)

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great it's being brought to the fore. I'm just getting worried because any question of the past elections have been waved off as 'conspiracy theory'. Now, suddenly THIS election is in deep jeopardy...but the past two elections we're just supposed to get over it because they won?

24. This may sound paranoid, but I have been thinking about it
suppose the machines are hackable at any point on election day.

If exit polling overwhelmingly indicates that a Dem is going to win, what stops them from going into the machine and hacking it (leaving evidence) to make sure the Dem wins by a wide margin.

Then, after the election results, the Repig challenger can protest the results, and then someone will show up with proof that the Dem stole the election.

The Repig gets to go to Congress, the Dem goes to trial and probably jail, and Repigs will be able to say (with hard proof) that Dems steal elections

Good point. If we begin to see this scenario you describe playing out repeatedly all over, that might be the cue that says the real work now falls to us. We the people are the last line of defence against corporate tyranny in America. The streets and byways of Washington D.C. and every city and town in this country are waiting for us.

What color shall we wear on that day?

32. Why do you all keep saying this? That is not what is going to happen.
The problem is the Republicans can and possibly will steal the election. Period.

If the dems win, the republicans will not have anything to stand on, saying it was stolen. the results would match the polls. They'll sound like sore losers if they cry foul.

LOOK. when elections are stolen, there are the real results and the false results. the one who steals has to be the one who uses the false results.

the real results will most likely show the dems winning. the only ones who could steal it are the Republicans.

dobbs hates Bush. he is not doing anything to try to convince people that the dems are going to steal it. He is the only one in the mainstream media who is HELPING us by showing the American people there is a problem.

just look at the polls. the majority of people want the dems to win. the majority of people think the election will be stolen. how and why are so many people twisting this backwards and thinking that it's republicans thinking the dems will steal it?

you people who are twisting this whole thing around backwards are seriously losing it!

45. Of course the dems won't steal it. BUT when they win by a huge margin
that the thugs can't possibly steal, then the thugs will make a case for the election being stolen because they are ruthless and play to win to matter how they get there-look no further than '00 & '04-which the thugs STOLE. The thugs don't care what anyone thinks of them and will quickly utilize the media that they control to get their message out. Just like in '00. To say that those of who understand their m.o. are "losing it" is just a case of shooting the messenger.

49. Why prettify the word "hacker"?
I know, the term is not well defined. There are techies who believe that "hacking" a system means trying to extend the technology, understand it and make it do new things.

But most people accept a "hacker" as a thief, a con man, a dirty bastard who wants to steal your votes, your ATM card and your web page.

Let's face it; "hacker" is just a modern term for "mad scientist," someone who does what he wants with science with no regard for anyone else. And if this offends anyone out there, there haven't been a lot of self-proclaimed "hackers" that have been recognized for social service or positive, people-helping causes. Most of them work for the satisfaction of getting money from the rich, or of stomping over someone's virtual face because they have the power to.

You want to challenge this judgment, that's okay, but I don't think the public would disagree with me.
