What a sad pathetic joke Couric and CBS management have made to a once great news organization.

Hannity on CBS's "freeSpeech" Tonight
Is the CBS Evening News toying with "freeSpeech?" On Thursday, Katie Couric's conversation with John McCain was labeled "freeSpeech," even though it was a one-on-one interview. But on Friday, the segment returned to its usual format, when Dr. Andrew Haas talked about the dangers of elderly drivers.

Tonight, FNC's Sean Hannity will sound off on the war in Iraq, politics and the upcoming mid-term elections during "freeSpeech..."

Does anybody watch this waste of 30 minutes anyway? It looks like CBS is making up more reasons to the poor ratings than Bush is to why we invaded Iraq

Blaming Couric's Low-Rated Lead-Ins
In Monday morning's USA Today, Sean McManus "notes that low-rated local newscasts leading into Evening News -- CBS' traditional handicap -- have also hurt Couric, just as they hurt anchor Dan Rather for years."

Why wasn't he noting those low-rated lead-ins before Sept. 5?

> Also: "I never want to declare 'game over,' but I like the trend lines. I like the way things are going," NBC Nightly News EP John Reiss says...

4. Do they ever have anyone borderline decent on that?

:wtf:
Do only Repugs and other crazies have the right of freespeech? Of course going by this country's reactions in general seems that way too.
The dixie chicks have their records getting smashed and they get death threats for criticizing Bush, while O'Reilly goes around calling for San Francisco to be bombed, Coulter says the NYT building should have been hit by terrorisrs etc. with no repercussions whatsoever :eyes:

7. so it's free speech for those who already have radio and tv shows?
Instead of listening to Hannity go on and on with the same garbage he spews EVERY DAY, why not give people who don't already have a show the chance to get on their soap box? There's absolutely nothing innovative about giving talk show hosts even more air time on different shows. It's a waste of what could be a pretty good opportunity for the rest of us.

8. Thank God for CBS News!
I mean, there's absolutely nowhere else the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity can be to get this kind of unadulterated, unfiltered platform to air their views. They're so completely stifled by the media climate that there's no way they can possibly get their point of view out to the public. It's so generous of CBS to grant these poor fellows several minutes of uninterrupted air time so they can at last get their vital message out to the country which otherwise wouldn't even know they exist!

Thank you, thank you, and again I say thank you, CBS!

9. Um, isn't it supposed to be for people without an outlet for speech?
Hannity has a radio show and TV show. Rush Limbaugh has plenty of speech opportunity. Clearly CBS is only interested in advancing an extreme RW agenda to desperately get ratings. I think they will be disppointed.

10. WTF? Is Katie trying to win the hearts and minds of the Freepers?
I never watch, so I don't know, but has she ever featured progressives on FreeSpeech?

Sean Hannity is to free speech what George W. Bush is to intelligible speech.

14. I guess between his radio and tv show Hannity doesn't have enough
outlets to express himself freely. :sarcasm:

15. Why Cons would watch CBS when they have Faux
is beyond me. I haven't watched Couric as news anchor yet and have absolutely no intention to do so. They have taken a risk by putting her not just as news anchor, but the face of news. She's even (until late) been foisted on the CBS viewing audience via 60 Minutes. I did not watch those pieces.

Enough, already!

Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity aren't signing up for their spots to attract Independent, Moderate, or Liberal viewpoints. They have a friend in Katie Couric.

The great thing about choice is that I can switch the channel. And when all else fails and there are no more choices, I guess I'll just have to turn off the TV.
