NEVER ABOUT STAY THE COURSE -- here come da spin
here comes the spin -- if you can stomach it..

--snip--

Bush said that he wasn’t going to “cut and run,” but that he would constantly adjust his strategy. Steph interjected that James Baker was looking for a middle ground between “cut and run and stay the course.” The President replied: “Listen, we’ve never been ’stay the course,’ George.” The President said that he is for “completing the mission.” This, then, is his definition of the old “stay the course” phrase.

1. And exactly which mission would that be?
It's been changed so many times it's hard to keep track!

2. Whose idea was this?
Sam Seder has already been killing this with clip after clip of Bush, Tony Snow and others saying "We are going to stay the course."

WHO thought it would be a good idea to go with this talking point? This reeks of Republican desperation.

Now, granted, the compliant network and cable media may not point out the lies, but it's all over progressive radio and the 'net. Not to mention that people REMEMBER! It has not been that long and Bush said "Stay the course" a zillion times, and people REMEMBER!!!!

3. The original mission?
the original mission was to "make sure the smoking gun does not take the form of a mushroom cloud."

Have our efforts in Iraq made the USA safer from nuclear attack? Depends on the benevolence of Kim Jong Il at any given moment? Benevolence is also needed from all the other shady characters in the nuclear material black market.

I've been sweating out total nuclear annihilation since about 1959 and will continue until I die. I cope by making it a low priority I'm powerless to change, anyway. I work at NOT BEING AFRAID, so I don't fall into the GWB Ruling Elite paradigm.
