New NBY 'Toon Today - The Final Heat
I've made some minor format changes to my site...a new/expanded "rant" section (which I'll be linking up to my DU Journal), and, after the great response to my AARP parody news story, I'll be adding more original content in a new NBYire Service section. Check out the weekend's breaking story about the White House scrapping Air Force one in favor of a new submarine).

Enjoy. Happy final two weeks, people. I don't know about you, but I don't think I'll be sleeping much over the next fifteen days!

1. It kind of look like that waves going to crush the Democrat Donkey
Although I suspect the idea is that he will get on the wave and ride it in to victory.

2. Your first take on it was correct

Any surfer will see that he's not in a good spot. He's in the impact zone, and he'd better start paddling his ass off or he's going to get caught on the inside when the wave of voter discontent slams him into that reef (the "message" in the reef isn't too subtle, is it?).

;)

I expect some peope wouldn't like this one. But it's not as negative as it first appears. It is about understanding your position, and realizing the hidden dangers that await us. It actually serves more of an illustration to my rant below it than an actual stand-alone cartoon.

3. Yeah, I thought this one would tank
Everybody is rightfully cranked as we come down to the wire. I'm sorry I can't jump on the optimism wagon. I think even a democratic victory will be a defeat of sorts, a way of the GOP handing over all their shit to us, then campaigning hard against the democrats leading up to 2008 for not fixing the problems, for raising taxes, for allowing Halliburton to execute Cheney's promised attack on the Homeland.

CNN has already started the meme this morning, as Sosobad pointed out to the poll-weary talking head guest that "the democrats will own this if they take over, and people will expect them to do something."

Bingo.

BushCo knows they've dug a hole so fucking deep that NO ONE could dig out of it in two years. They know full well that within the year the housing bubble burst will be full-blown, the economic chickens will be coming home to roost and foreclosures skyrocket and the ramifications of Bush's lies about the economy begin to be felt. America will experience a brief period of euphoria when/if the dems win, but it will be like buying a house without a thorough mechanical inspection, then finding out the roof leaks, the foundation is cracking, and virtually the entire place has to raised. And they'll do everything in their power to make sure WE take the blame for it in 2008.

OR...they just let Diebold flip just enough races to maintain control of the Senate, and can then block everything the democrats do, and call us obstructionists again.

While I don't say a democratic victory would be a bad thing, I feel like a we're in for a royal screwing. The spoiled brat Bush won't clean up his room, and instead of his getting punished for it, we'll go in and clean up his mess and say "And don't do it again!" as he gleefully ignores everyone and goes on counting he and Unka Dick's profits from their little foray onto the world stage.

4. Shameless self-kick
I know no one wants to hear my message, but hey...the cartoon is at least pretty.
