and we're closing in on them. Not bad! They have always had the $$$$$ advantage, until the Internets came along.

Democrats Close Fundraising Gap With GOP
By JIM KUHNHENN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The national Democratic Party raised $33.6 million in September, outpacing the Republican Party and setting the stage for an expensive and brawling finish to the 2006 campaign.

Overall, Republicans still held a financial advantage going into the final days of the campaign. The GOP's three national party committees reported having $77.2 million in hand. The Democratic committees reported a total of $67.3 million in the bank. But the numbers show a closing trend for Democrats who have been trailing overall Republican fundraising and were $20 million behind in cash on hand a month ago.

The committees must file detailed reports of their September financial activity with the Federal Election Commission on Friday.<snip>

1. This is good news
especially when you figure in how much of that they are going to have to use to defend themselves from scandals.

3. That seems likely, doesn't it?
It fits.

I think we may just catch up in the funds this year though. Just a month ago there was a $20 million gap and now it's only 10 million. (It seems so odd to say ONLY $10 million..sheesh...but you know what I mean. :))

4. Does this count direct contributions to individual candidates?
I've adopted two other races other than my 4th district (NC) and decided to give to those candidates to win the house.
