Schwarzenegger buys Black Democrat's endorsement for $16,000
I've been sickened by the new radio ads Schwarzenegger's camp has been running. It is grossly obvious Schwarzie is heavily courting the black vote, featuring endorsements by local black religious leaders. Two such ads were released on the same day; both feature black clergy leaders reading, nearly word-for-word, the same scripted message.

Governor Schwarzenegger also has new radio ads out today (his campaign launched two new TV ads yesterday). The radio spots are testimonials from two African American ministers that have endorsed the governor's reelection, and yet are lifelong Democrats. One ad features Pastor Amos Brown of San Francisco's Third Baptist Church. Brown, a former SF supervisor, says he's making an "exception" to his Democratic roots in this race. "The governor has funded California schools at their highest level ever," Brown says in the ad. "He believes children from every background can succeed." The second radio ad features a similar testimonial from Pastor J. Alfred Smith of Oakland's Allen Temple Baptist Church.

Pastor Amos Brown's endorsement is particularly disturbing, considering he, in the not too distant past, labeled Schwarzie as "the national axis of evil" and called Bush Arnold's "partner in crime." That Pastor Brown has the nerve to call himself a "progressive democrat" is especially galling.

So how easily was Pastor Brown bought? A measley $16,000. Chump change for Arnold--he's rumored to have paid out far more than that to buy the silence of the many women he's sexually harassed over the years.

SAN FRANCISCO - A progressive pastor who once called Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger part of "the national axis of evil" is now a paid consultant with the governor's re-election campaign, upsetting at least one fellow clergyman.

The Rev. Amos Brown, who heads Third Baptist Church, is starring this week in a new radio ad for Schwarzenegger after once dubbing President Bush the governor's "partner in crime" in a San Francisco Chronicle interview.

Brown lauded Schwarzenegger in an official campaign press release this week as a leader on arts, music and physical education in schools and as an advocate for prison reform and small-business development.

In the past two months, the San Francisco pastor was paid more than $16,000 after he was put on the Schwarzenegger campaign payroll as a political consultant, according to documents on file with the California Secretary of State's Office. The Schwarzenegger campaign confirmed that Brown is a paid campaign adviser.
