Here's yesterdays scary-as-hell quote re "Secret Prisons, open or not?" :
Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 09:06 AM by elehhhhna
MR. SNOW: I said it was -- no, I said it was dormant during the period -- what happened was, when there was no law it was described as being dormant. This was a program that could no longer go forward. And I am not at liberty to divulge any further details about what may have happened in the last two hours since the law was signed -- or hour and a half.

2. in his speech, Bush said they would go forward
so it's a safe bet they've cranked up the torture mills already.

Course, my money is on those "dormant" torture mills not ever having been too "dormant"

but then I don't trust the Bush Regime.

4. Anyone who trusts the Regime is a naive idiot
If not a co-conspirator.

9. And then there are those people who lie to themselves
about what is happening in America in order to protect their image of America.

They'd rather tell themselves lies about America than to face the reality.

Facing the reality demands people act for change

The lie allows them to continue as if nothing is wrong with America.

8. Tony's hedging...he said he couldn't comment on what has happened in the
time since the bill was signed into law.

In Bush's speech, he said they would go forward.

"By allowing the CIA program to go forward, this bill is preserving a tool that has saved American lives"

his evasiveness was very telling.

10. Does anyone at DU think Tony Snow has a "need to know"?
The secrecy surrounding the Halliburton detention centers - and much, much more - is far above Mr. Snow's pay-grade. Snow is fed a few buzz-words (which he dutifully memorizes) and is then shuffled out on the stage for show-time. "I am not at liberty to divulge any further details.." IOW, Snow doesn't know shit. That makes this all that much more scary.
