Ten U.S. troops killed in Iraq
October 18, 2006

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- In a deadly day of violence, 10 U.S. service members died in Iraq on Tuesday, the U.S. Military said Wednesday.

Four Multi-National Division-Baghdad soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb attack west of Baghdad Tuesday at about 6:50 a.m.

Less than three hours later, another Multi-National Division-Baghdad soldier died after his patrol was hit with small-arms fire in northern Baghdad.

Tuesday afternoon, a sixth Multi-National Division-Baghdad soldier was killed at about 1:10 p.m. when his vehicle was hit by an improvised-explosive device, also north of the capital.

In Diyala province, northeast of the Iraqi capital, three Task Force Lightning Soldiers assigned to 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, were killed as the "result of enemy action" during military operations.

5. Arm yourself for the right's argument. Troop deaths v. total deaths
The typical right wing response is to ask how many people were murdered in California or Michigan on Tuesday.

The truth, however point is that, if we consider the troops as police, we must point out this number is NOT total deaths, but ask how many POLICEMEN were murdered in California or Michigan on Tuesday...

7. They died for nothing but politicians and generals in a lost war.
Cannon-fodder to cover the asses of ambitious politicians and generals drunk with power and hubris.

The poor sods were told they were "defending America" when, in reality, they were sacrificed to protect the reputations of the bosses.
