FBI probes Weldon links to Russian groups
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/15310296/

When Russian gas trader Itera International Energy opened its Jacksonville, headquarters in 2003, Congressman Curt Weldon, a tireless advocate of USRussian trade, was on hand for the celebration.

"I can think of no other company that represents what Russia is today and offers for the future," the Republican from Pennsylvania declared. "Florida's lucky to have them."

Today, Mr Weldon's ties to Itera have come under a less flattering spotlight. Federal agents this week raided Itera's headquarters and the homes of Mr Weldon's daughter, Karen, as part of an investigation into whether the lawmaker inappropriately used his influence to direct clients to her lobbying firm.

While the probe has generated interest because of the potential impact of yet another corruption scandal on next month's mid-term elections, it also brings back to the fore long-running allegations about Mr Weldon's relationship with two Russian companies that were Ms Weldon's only clients: Itera and Saratov Aviation Plant, a defence manufacturer.

4. Now Does This Connect To Gasprom?
I think that's the Russian oil company that gave money to Abramoff and DeLay...IIRC upwards of $1,000,000 that appears to be one of those many stories that got lost in the cracks. I wonder if this Weldon investigation has any connection to that investigation (uncovering on rock and this turned up).

The other day a couple of us thought what would be the worst thing that could happen to a political campaign this late in the game...and the first answer was having a police raid on your home or headquarters...good or bad, the impression isn't a good one. But then Space Commander Curt will then have plenty of time to chase Able Danger and all those Nukes in Iraq and Syria.
