DU poll on NE pastor in LEGISLATURE asking forgiveness ABORTION/EVOLUTION
OK first here is the poll & article, scroll about halfway down right hand side: http://www.nebraska.tv/news/local/2226196.html

What in the hell is going on in this country?

Morning Prayer Stalls Legislative Session
Tuesday, 1/24/06

Tuesday's morning prayer sparks a big reaction from senators. An Elm Creek Pastor gave the opening blessing asking for forgiveness for abortion and teaching evolution to our young people.

The prayer is supposed to be a general blessing. It's not meant to touch on any current legislation or any touchy political or religious issues. Some senators believe this mornings prayer crossed the line.

It sucks that we can't see poll results right now but I promise an update later.

Let's go get those fundie bastards!

1. Thank you in advance for the promised update
I'll be in bed asleep by the time the news comes on, but I'll come back here in the morning and see what was said.

I smile as I imagine an Imam (leader of Muslim prayers) going before that legislative body and simply praying-I doubt if that would happen. Would they even consider a rabbi? A shaman? A yogi? A Wiccan? What would occur if any of these people expressed even a mild political belief?

11. You know that gives me a great idea. Ernie Chambers
is being forcibly retired and eliminated via term limits. Nebraska legislators just could no longer tolerate the presence of a genuine black man in a T-shirt in their lilly-white halls.

He would LOVE to arrange something just like what you suggested I'm sure, and he's got NOTHING to lose. I'll email him with your suggestion. Thanks.

Without him, not an eyebrow would have raised. For real.

Heroic Democrat Ernie Chambers:

13. Good Job DU! They read the results and
Is it appropriate for ministers to express personal beliefs on political issues in the Legislature's morning prayer?
Yes 32%
No 68%!

You can bet here in fundamerica without DU those numbers would have pretty much been flipped.

Thanks :patriot:
