3. And now he's lying his ass off about the "cost" of illegal immigration
on Maher's show. What a piece of trash he is.

5. beware of Lou Dobbs

I've only watched him once because Randi Rhodes was raving about him. But he was going off on the "left wing craptrap!" (or is that clap-trap?) because The Nation wrote an article about him a few months ago. He didn't like the article so he was trashing left wing--or geez, just Democrats. He's still a very conservative Bush lover no matter what.

7. If a person walks like a racist, spouts off like a racist and uses
fractured logic like a racist - than you have got a racist - I don't care how Lou Dobbs likes to think of himself. He might not like the word but if it fits you have to wear it.

First he kept blaming the generals while conveniently overlooking that the Chucklenuts in Chief and Rummy deliberately trashed all war plans that the Pentagon had been developing for years for the "flowers and chocolates" wet dream. Dobbs' head was so far up his ass Lou hasn't seen sunshine since 1992.

He then mounts his soap box on immigration and off he goes on a seemingly endless rant about open borders, let the fruit rot, fie on anyone who dares not speak English and a pox on anyone who dares, DARES to wear a burka in public. He had several good points about the minimum wage and the national Chamber of Commerce, if only he had just stopped there.

I understand the point that Maher and Dobbs (ignore the airhead woman who was just plain crazy) that the burka is a symbol for second class citizenship for some women. Afflack was the sane one in the group when he kept saying we have freedom in this country - and that includes wearing what you damn well want. He said we don't know how the women who wear the burka feel - they just might want to wear this in deference to their religion (anybody remember nun's habits - don't recall anyone thinking we needed to outlaw those!). Ben kept saying it should be personal choice not forced on someone because Dobbs or Maher or anyone else who think the outfit is subservient says they shouldn't.

Very good show tonight. Real Time provided plenty of proof that Dobbs is a mean, nasty, egocentric white man who is scared to death of losing his majority in the country, that the wacky woman should have stayed home with her children and Afflack would make a very good person to have in DC.

9. he's not all that bad
Dobbs has some good points to make...he's clearly wrong about blaming the generals on the Iraq issue but he was also defending the lowest paid US workers and thought they deserve better in this country...a lot of what he said is similar to what Thom Hartmann said in his recent book Screwed: the undeclared war against the middle class...

11. Dobbs is horrible. Period. I gave him props on the minimum wage
and the National Chamber of Commerce comments but that is as far as I will go. I have watched his show too many times to be tricked by his supposed "rational" arguments on immigration. He IS a racist from the way he talks about people who do not meet his narrowly defined definition of who is "allowed" to call him/herself an American. He is just another one of those talking heads that thinks if he opines on a subject than he has all the answers tied up in a neat little bow and that's the end of that subject. 'Fraid not Lou, not by a long shot.

Immigration is a problem in this country but it is not the be all and end all of problems in this country. It wouldn't even make it into my top 20 of problems in this country. It is just another faux issue that the repugs have dredged up for the mid-terms. Dobbs just grabbed the coattails of the issue (not unlike O'Lielly's war on Christmas shtick) and he is shilling a book. Its about him making money.

13. It's a nightly sport to pick apart Lou Dobbs at DU...
but there are many of us here (probably a majority) who appreciate his comments on off-shoring, election fraud, corporate corruption, etc.

BTW, welcome to DU!

12. Dobbs was trolling for someone to call for Rummy's firing
Dobbs may be a lot of things to a lot of people, but that level of dumb?

Perhaps Dobbs and Rumsfeld are pals. Both have been around a long time.
