North County Times Reports on Grand Jury Investigation of Bilbray



Startling allegations about Brian Bilbray are continuing to emerge. This
morning, the North County Times reported that a "grand jury investigation
of Republican Brian Bilbray's legal residency" is under way. Air America
is discussing it as well. As we speak, the District Attorney's office is
investigating the Voter Registration form signed by Mr. Bilbray under
penalty of perjury. The investigation could result in charges of election
fraud, tax fraud and even perjury.

When Brian Bilbray won the special election, who could have imagined he
would follow in Randy "Duke" Cunningham's footsteps? I believe the voters
of our district deserve better from their elected officials - don't you?

Right now, Brian Bilbray is trying to cover up this investigation. Don't
let him sweep this under the rug! Join me in changing the course of the
country. Forward the article to everyone you know. Spread the word - tell
Brian Bilbray that you will hold your elected officials responsible for
their actions.

The voting machines stayed at pajama parties at the workers' homes the night(s) before. It takes about 11 minutes I believe I heard to change the machines to change votes, etc.

The 50th Congressional District covers large areas of northern San Diego County outside the city of San Diego. Only part of the city is in the 50th.



I happen to live in both the 50th and the city of San Diego. The ballot instructions were clear enough to me. But I happen to be an experienced computer systems administrator, so it was obvious to me you had to check the box by the name you write in, to get the vote counted.

I work in the legal field, and I know when the spirit of the law should triumph over the letter of the law, and that was such a case.

Just like the Gore ballots that were disqualified because people had both punched and written "Gore". The intent of the voter is paramount.

You think Bilbray--whom Hastert swore in before the vote counting in the special election was even finished--is clean on this? I've read some of the details in other threads, and I sure don't. Bilbray owes the voters an explanation, if he has one. Why should Busby pass this up? Hm?

I voted on a paper ballot with a pen, and fed it into an optical scanner that looks uncomfortingly similar to a paper shredder, sitting on a wimpy cardboard box.

Francine may have cited three sources, but unfortunately none of them are authoritative and the people who really do know have all declined to comment.

But like a Hail Mary pass in football it is a risky strategy. If it backfires, anyone who Francine Busby runs against in the future will dredge it up as a "dirty trick".
