The auduience needed to hear what the 'unidentified protestor' had to say.

As the president touted alternative fuels, a woman began chanting "Out of Iraq Now."

Bush continued with his speech as officials yanked the woman by her coat sleeve out of the audience. She began shouting louder, her fist in the air while yelling: "What are you doing? You're killing us." As the president touted alternative fuels, a woman began chanting "Out of Iraq Now."

Most conference attendees are investors, renewable-energy advocates or representatives of agribusiness groups that stand to benefit from the emergence of renewable fuels.

One protestor, shouting, “Oil is not renewable, out of Iraq now!” was hustled from the hall as the audience applauded Bush’s remarks. The president did not interrupt his speech during the incident.

35. US Constitution, Amendment 1:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

This and every instance in which a politician uses police or any other method to silence a protestor should be subject to challenge in the courts, and should be so challenged. "Creating a public disturbance" ain't in it; when free speech is abridged, and the purpose of the speech was to petition the government for a redress of wrongs, there should be no silencing of this speech, BY LAW.

45. GAG..... * and "renewable energy" in the same sentence.
"Bush warned Americans on Thursday against becoming complacent about supporting alternative sources of energy just because gasoline prices are falling at the pump."

Hahahahahaha. * concerned about the environment? Yeah, right...this is the same president who installed anti-environment Mike Leavitt as head of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Well, there was no gun being held to *'s head during this speech, so the only alternative is that he's now invested a fortune in oil companies that have invested in alternative energy.

59. I live in St Louis but I don't recognize this
woman.

KUDOS to her though!!! They showed her on channel 4 and said that Bush ignored her and continued on with his speech. In typical corporate fashion. Corporate leaders tend to ignore dissent.

Perhaps we should call the US the CSA the CORPORATE states of America, Inc LLC

Clearly she wasn't paying attention at Jesus Camp. She'll need to be re-educated via 40 days and 40 nights of continuous "700 Club" re-runs.

90. if I could get in I'd do the same
I wish every day until the election someone somewhere stood up and ruined his speech with a cry of

"murderer, you fought a war in Iraq knowing there was no connection to 9/11 and did so in hopes of starting a new world order of corporate countries to make trillions off of! what say you? what say you, murderer!?" I'll have to see if he'll be in my neck of the woods (highly unlikely, I'm in Harris/Nelson country)

NOT!

She looks rather, shall we say, conservative. Tough shit freeps...it ain't just "MoveOn or Michael Moore types." The reality is, most of America can't stand your guy or his policies.

She deserved her chance to speak out. We all do.

This is what we have come to as a nation...having to shout over the president's lies in a room full of sycophants.

We are a banana republic.

Bush hides behinds layers and layers of security with weapons, and the ability to throw her into the far corners of a prison somewhere, if he thinks he can get by with it.

108. The question should be: Do we recognize any of the people who DIDN'T
speak up, who instead applauded when her freedom of speech was squashed? Fascism and the loss of our democracy can't happen unless citizens allow it.
