What is the GOP actually going to RUN ON in the November ELECTIONS
Edited on Thu Oct-12-06 11:23 AM by savemefromdumbya
There's not much left for them to run on. Rove must be racking his brains right now to think of something?

Faith - the Christian right are effectively dumping the GOP with Foleygate and the due to be released book "Tempting Faiths" (author David Kuo, who served as special assistant to the president from 2001 to 2003. A self-described conservative Christian) see Keith Obermann tonight.

Iraq - 655,000 people dead - not to mention 3000 allied soldiers dead and thousands injured

Iran - public worried about draft

Korea - not many people believe that it's a big prob (too far away)

Afghanistan - Opium production increased 60% and thousands dead and injured. Taliban on the rise!

Economy - well what economy we ask?

Jobs - what jobs?

Health/EPA - grrrr!

Homeland Security - you have to be joking - if responding to 9/11 attacks and Katrina, (homeland security dept is full of Iran contras) is anything to go by and selling off our port security to Arabs. Fear stuff ain't going to work this time (yawn).

What else has the GOP got to run on?

1. The only thing as always (Terra and Taxes)
both should be easily deflected by the democrats. Oh, and cultural issues wherever possible but the Foley scandal makes it harder to make that case.

33. An important point
Even if we did want to raise taxes like Bush says we do, how are we actually supposed to get our diabolically high tax increases signed into law? He is certainly not going to sign any legislation rolling back his precious tax cuts for the wealthy, much less increasing taxes on his rich buddies and it is doubtful that we could even pass any such legislation by a veto-proof margin but Bush, of course, knows that all he has to do to keep his "base" in line is to spook them with the always reliable specter of higher taxes

and those mean old Democrats will cripple the government by investigating those men of gawd, the GOPs, plus they'll raise all your taxes to the point you'll all be homeless. Plus they'll encourage your daughters to go out and be sluts. Plus they'll encourage your sons to get boyfriends (which begs the question of who your daughters are going to find to shtup, but they don't think like that) and you'll never have grandchildren, unless your slutty daughters present you with illegitimate brats you'll have to raise in your golden years, which won't be so golden anyway since you'll have to pay that retirement tax that affects only the top 1% of wealth holders. That's if she forgets to get her monthly abortion.

That's how the neo-con fascists seized control in 2000 and 2004 (and possibly 2002). I believe they really think the Diebold "Magi-Tabs" will rescue them when it's time to tabulate the vote count.

I hope I'm wrong...

- We don't go to the Dominican Republic with limbaugh (when congress is in session.)
- Killing 655,000 "ragheads" ain't that bad. Is it?
- We don't get blowjobs (from female interns)
- Our lies are blessed
- We don't advocate forced abortions (in the United States)
- We have retired our klan robes (except in Virginia)
- We will keep the deficit under a trillion dollars (and deficits don't matter, reagan proved it.)

What a fantastic political party to be a member of!!

24. What did the democrats know about Mark Foley,
and when did we know it.

What gets me about this one is not only the lie that we knew anything (other than Foley was creepy, but everybody knew that), but that, if we did know anything, we would have kept it to ourselves so we could leak it to the press on a Friday. In the first place, if we are so clever as to have orchestrated the whole thing, we wouldn't wait until a Friday to release it, and, in the second place, there's no way in Hell any Democrat could have restrained him/herself from going to the press with this one. I know I would have gone to the press right away, with great schadenfreude.

27. What will they run on? 5% to 10% "thumb on the scales" for Bushites,
warmongers and corporatists, as in 2004, from their good buds and major donors at Diebold and ES&S, who "counted" 80% of the nation's votes in 2004, using TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code, in all the shiny new, and extremely insider hackable, electronic voting systems--a coup engineered during the 2002-2004 period, by the biggest crooks in the Anthrax Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney (abetted by corporatist 'Democrats' Christopher Dodd and Terry McAuliffe.)

It's not an 'if." It's a "how much?". How much are they willing to risk their election theft machines for future goals? How much election fraud will the--until now MIND-BOGGLINGLY SILENT--Democratic leadership put up with? And how much will the American people put up with? --not that we count for much. They have new microwave crowd control weapons all ready for that eventuality.

Sorry to post such a downer comment, but we really need to be prepared for the worst. Because they DO have the capability, all in place, to steal this election, too. And who can doubt that, having put that capability in place, they would have any pangs of conscience about using it, or any worries that the Democratic Party leadership would object?

The 4 election reform initiatives in Ohio last year may have been an experiment in major vote flipping. The 4 initiatives were predicted to win by 60/40. They got flipped by the machines, on election day, into 60/40 LOSSES--the biggest flipover we've seen yet. So don't discount the possibility of outrageous Bushite "wins" this fall. They HAVE the capability to do it, and control of the newsstream to cover it up. Further, Hastert has set the precedent (in CA-50, Bilbray/Busby) of swearing in the Bushite before the vote counting is even finished. Landshark's lawsuit on this overriding of the election system is now on appeal, but we lost in the first court ruling. In other words, Hastert can now swear in any Bushites whose elections are being challenged, and make the Bushite win a fait accompli, by fiat of the House majority leader. Will the Dem leaders fight such an outrage? They didn't in CA-50.

There is another possibility, and that is that the Democrats are permitted to win, but the races are weighted toward Bushite Democrats (like those who voted for torture and suspension of habeas corpus), who, combined with outright Bushites, will still hold a majority in Congress for war with Iran, a military Draft, and fascist clampdown here.

We DO need to vote--and in huge numbers. We DO need to back good candidates, and get out there and fight for the ouster of this criminal junta. But there is something ELSE we need to do--something with an even higher priority--and that is to RESTORE TRANSPARENT VOTE COUNTING!

And for that, I think the ABSENTEE BALLOT PROTEST is the best strategy in the immediate future. Vote, but DON'T VOTE ON THE MACHINES. BOYCOTT all electronic voting machines. It won't give us accurate vote counts in November--nothing can--but it does have the potential to END the reign of these diabolical machines. If everyone who despises the Bush Junta--60% to 70% of the American people--votes by Absentee Ballot this fall, local/state election officials will be unable to defend this rigged system, and will be FORCED to reform it, or resign. How can they defend a system of extremely riggable voting machines that NOBODY WILL VOTE ON?

That's our best hope, I think--local/state reform.

Bust the Machines--Vote by Absentee Ballot in November!

(Californians have until Oct. 31 to request an Absentee Ballot. The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 23. But the deadline for getting an Absentee Ballot is a week later. In Calif, you can deliver your AB vote to the polling place on election day. Check local rules for other states.)

...liberals support Bin Laden (like the Bush family does and like Coulter supported McVeigh), this country wouldn't be so fucked up if it were ruled by religious principles (like the Taliban), the terraists want to take away our freedom and make us live under a facist theocracy (like Bush and most other Republicans), everything is just peachy under Republican leadership (according to Poppy's rich-ass WASP country club buddies), the Democrats will let us get attacked again (like Bush did on 9/11)

45. No, I predict a radiological event...
I.E. A dirty bomb. Chemical or biological weapons are too hard to control, especially bio-weapons. Chemical agents are randomly dispersed by wind, etc. Conventional explosives coupled with U-238 contamination is just right, from a Bushco perspective. Creation of instant fear due to the "radiation" component as well as visible destruction and death from the explosion will rally the idiot sheeple around the flag like we've never seen before. The only drawback is the potential for the average voter to wake up and say, "Wait a second, weren't you supposed to keep us safe?", but with a complicit MSM, that sentiment will get lost in the constant, 24/7 din of, "Terror! Be afraid! Bush is the only one who can save us! More Rightist propaganda ad nauseum!"

It WILL happen, or something VERY similar will happen anyway. Count on it. My most sincere hope is that I'm wrong this time around... but I doubt that I am.
