I do, however, think the whole "Jets not being able to be scrambled thing" totally stretches any boundary of truth. Totally ludicrous. There absolutely should have been jets able to intercept Flight 93.

After the initial impact has occurred, there is only one force acting on a building: gravity. That force is DOWN--period end of story. The only way anything would collapse in any direction but down is if another force acted on it to move it in another direction. You can witness this in video of the WTC buildings collapsing. At the first moments of the collapse you see the top floors of the building pitch outward because support has failed on one or two sides of the building (which, BTW, is not how a building delibrately taken down by explosives behaves). That outward lean lasts only a few moments, because once those top floors start pitching out and there is nothing below them to support them, gravity takes over and they fall where gravity takes them: down.

You claim that buildings tend to collapse outwardly. While it may appear that way with small two or three story buildings, it is definitely not true of larger buildings. If it did, you'd be able to easily produce some video showing a collapse acting in the manner you describe. I challenge you to provide such video.

The page you link to makes the claim that the WTC building collapses could not have been caused by the airplanes crashing into them because "Only Demolition and Earthquakes Have Leveled High-Rises". As supporting evidence they list several pictures from buildings that collapsed from earthquakes. The logical flaw in this argument is obvious to any first year student of Aristotle. If you want to prove that steel buildings don't collapse from big jet airplanes hitting them, you need to provide examples of big jet airplanes hitting steel buildings that didn't collapse. Providing photos of building that collapsed from earthquakes proves nothing, unless you are trying to prove that earthquakes can collapse buildings.

I nearly forgot about the basic law of physics that states, "Any rigid structure receiving damage localized to any portion of it's substrate automatically and instantly distributes the weakening effects of such damage in a perfectly even distribution along all points of an axis relative to the direction from which the damage initially occurred thus causing any rigid structure to fall straight down upon it'self so long as no other forces, besides gravity, are acting upon it."

A building (or anything else) that sustains significant damage primarily off to one side of it's longest axis, when that axis is also the vertical axis will not fall straight down even if it's "perfectly" perpendicular (no such thing in the construction industry) to the ground (force of gravity). It just won't. Ever. It, at least the portion above the damage, will topple relative to the damaged portion of it's structure. It's how we all see the universe working around us every single day.

BTW you don't need to be a LIHOP or MIHOP person to not believe the official version of events concerning the nature of the structural failures of the three WTC towers is anywhere near complete, yet.

I'll climb out on a limb here...

-- GOP numbers are not good and it's fairly obvious they are in trouble.
-- We had a "terror alert" on the heels of the Lamont beating Lieberman
-- This latest "terror alert" appears to have done little to nothing in boosting bush/GOPer poll numbers, unlike previous terror alerts which showed gains in approval/support

We've pretty much accepted the idea there is a connection between polling numbers and terror alerts. The lower the numbers the more likely there will be a terror alert. However, the effectivness of using terror to boost numbers has waned significantly.

My prediction: There will be an actual attack between now and mid-October. Most likely 2nd/3rd week in October. The attack, most likely, won't be on US soil (how could GOPers claim we are safer with them if an attack occurs on US soil?) - but it will happen close to home...

Why the 2nd-3rd week in October? It gives GOPers 3-4 weeks of airtime to spin it as DEMS won't keep you safe, and not enough time for DEMS to offer an effective counter-spin
