There are 12 Iraq war veterans running as Democrats ...The Fighting Dems
Wow! The last I heard, there were 6 running as Dems. If the Republicans are "stronger on defense" then WHY are veterans returning from Iraq and running as Democrats? This is a great point to make when debating the issue. Oh, and here's a website you can go to and donate to their campaigns.

2. Repukes are not stronger on defense
They are strong on spending too much of other peoples' money on defense, and on sending the sons and daughters of others to war.

3. Clearly, they're all traitors
I mean, why else would they be running as Democrats? :sarcasm:

4. "repugs stronger on defense" is pure MYTH and easily debunked
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 12:38 PM by LynnTheDem
With FACTS;

-With the exception of Ronald Reagan, every Cold War Republican president actually cut military spending. Every Cold War Democratic President increased it.

-Republican Presidents Eisenhower, Nixon, and Ford cut defense while Democrats Kennedy, Johnson and Carter increased defense spending.

14. I think 2006 will be the year of the veteran

They've been so screwed lately and I hope they can help us take it back so we can help the veterans. One of my congressional canidates is apart of the Band of Brothers (Terry Stulce at http://www.terry2006.com On edit he's endorsed by Al Gore and Max Cleland)

7. We should show in this thread...
examples of how Republicans have actually weakened our defense. Here's one:

The top officials of this administration outed an entire covert operation that monitored and stopped the proliferation of wmds. The wmd black market now has a far greater chance of thriving without Valerie Plame.

Here's another one:

After the invasion of Iraq, this administration failed to secure the KNOWN conventional weapons that Saddam had stockpiled. Because of that, over 300 tons of plastic explosives are now being used on our troops in Iraq.

10. Democrats "caught" and "prosecuted"...
..the terrorists that perpetrated the first WTC attack and the Murrah Building Bombing.
Osama still Free.

The Democrats WON an entire World War in less time than the Republicans have been trying to catch Osama.

9. This is why we've yet to see
how the military voted in the last general election. If it was good news for Bush, he'd have a banner behind him at every press conference.

15. Exactly
I googled in 2004 for the vote and only found three results. Two out of the three I found had confirmied they voted for Kerry. I'm very sure if Bush knew that he got the military vote he'd be shouting it at the roof tops to Murtha and the others. But he's very silent which is very unusual.
