Good thing I don't live in Michigan because my two girls(7 & 9) will NOT get this vaccination. Nanny state can kiss my a$$.

Not true. I would consider the vaccine for my children in the event they were sexually abused or raped.

3. "Medical Professional" does not understand cervix......
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 08:58 PM by physioex
This is for you non-medical types here but, only a female has a uterus. The upper part of the uterus is called the fundus and the lower is called cervix. Here is the quote from FR:

To: visualops
Very good point. The fact is many more males than females get the disease. That is the reason it is not a reportable disease, fear that homosexuals will be offended and discriminated against. Why they refuse to acknowledge that fact I don't know. Nothing can be accomplished until it is. As a medical professional it is amazing the lengths that we are required to go to preventing identity of those who have it from being known.

On Edit: It's called HIPPA and yes all Patients are entitled to have private medical records. Is that a problem??? :eyes:

I feel the same way. I can see Nanny State declaring a parent unfit because of refusal to vaccinate for this.

Sometimes the government should be in play to protect us from ourselves, especially if you visit FreeRepublic regularly.

5. i would bepissed if state insisted on it. i didnt want my child to have
the chicken pox vaccination nor the hip c vaccination either. i think kids are getting way to many of them. i think that particular vaccination should be the consideration of the parent not the state. i think it is a stupid suggestion to say a girl that gets it will be more sexually active. i cant tell you how stupid i think that is. repeat, STUPID. but i dont thinkit should be a state requirement.

13. There's another vaccine coming that's given at older age
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 09:40 PM by OzarkDem
Glaxo Smith Kline has Cervarix, which offers similar protection against HPV, but can be given when you're older - at the time you become sexually active. It doesn't take as long to become effective.

Once it comes out, this will hopefully become a non-issue. Daughters of freepers can get vaccinated without dear old dad knowing anything.

14. I asked my daughter's doctor about it last week at her physical
He said they just ordered it and I should call back in a few weeks. I asked before he even brought it up.

How could you know this is out there and NOT attempt to protect your child?
