40. And that is very important
When it is obviously stolen, THAT is when the government will lose any legitimacy in the public's eye. It is extremely important that any theft is painfully apparent/obvious. This level of lead is absolutely crucial to maintain if we are to regain power.

That means it is hardly "over". We must continue working as we have and HARDER. It is certainly no time to relax our guard, in any case.

73. But what will we be able to do about it?
DU knew that the votes were cooked by 11 PM that night in 2004 and what happened?

Shock! Dismay! Hurt! ~ and nothing to show for it.

It is thisclose to the election again and we are still saying "Paper Ballots."

But what is changing, just talk, right?

I am recalling the mess with the votes in Maryland last month.

Long lines, big mix ups etc. etc.

All of that is by design IMO.

They ain't giving up power ~ no way.

It like the old shell game, which trick will be uncovered this time, keep US guessing and keep them winning.

Thanks for letting me rant!

64. I've been working for Lois Murphy, the Democrat in my..
district running for the House, and I'll be seeing her Wednesday. She's appearing with Bill Clinton and Ed Rendell. House seats have a sizable local element, so we can't take the national figures for granted. Lois is also a good candidate: only bad positions are on illegal immigration and Israel. She's too hard line on illegal immigration, supporting no form of amnesty. And her stance on Israel leaves them never open to criticism. But she's quite good on abortion, health care, keeping taxes on the middle class in check, Iraq, etc.

15. Did I ever!
I worked the polls that day and when I got home I was very, very tired and just clicked on a little bit before heading to bed. I knew Ihad done everything I could - and thought for sure people had seen through the idiot's lies. I think they did, after hearing things about Ohio, but boy what a sad day in 2004. I cried for a week.

So, yes, OP, don't tempt fate.

19. Why Oh Why, do we have to have elections in November.
Democrats would win so many more elections if they were held in October, rather then November. Oh well, 21 points is a nice cushion to sit on that leaves a lot of wiggle room for the usual election year Democratic fuckups and Republican dirty tricks.

... like these polls irrelevant. Some districts are pretty much locked-in, given how they've been gerrymandered by the Repubs. (And I'm sure Dems have gerrymandered, as well, but we're talking about flipping districts.)

A month is a lifetime in an election cycle. As many have said, we STILL need to work hard.

Of course, the way the Repug scandals have been dropping like cow dung in a field, we could keep this lead. But again, don't depend on how much they fuck up. The MSM, of course, loves take down the GOP dictation and print it.

not against us. I speak of Foley and North Korea. This North Korea nuclear test is huge and it's going to fuck Republicans all the way to 2008. The Foley matter is big too for its own reasons but this NK deal spells the end of Republican domination of US politics. This is the October surprise.

and under normal circumstances I would agree with you and feel a lot more confident. But with this horrid administration and pack of criminals nothing is normal. There are a lot of races and a lot of factors - a lot of time yet - the voting machines, the hold on the media - even though there seems to be a bit of progress here with the Foley thing - but still - there was some progress around Katrina and it went right back - so we have to consider the MSM - we can't take this for granted - we have to continue to work, send money and get as many people to the polls as possible.

71. Give me a break, why do you bother even caring with that kind of
self-defeatism? Diebold is not going to rig the elections. I'm sure the GOP will place voting booths in the wrong places, too many for white districts and too few for blacks, but increased scrunity of voting will make them timid, as well as the fact that the mainstream outlets, even Fox, have been discussing Diebold weakenesses to hacking in recent months and the Dems have such a huge advantae that everyone is expecting a victory.
