BUSH: "Why should I care about North Korea?”
"Why should I care about North Korea?” In State of Denial, Bob Woodward recounts a conversation between then-Gov. George W. Bush and then-Saudi ambassador to the U.S. Prince Bandar, in which Bush wonders why he should care about North Korea. “I get these briefings on all parts of the world,” Bush said, “and everybody is talking to me about North Korea.”

2. On The Front Page Of HuffPo!!
Even the freepers seemed unimpressed with GWB's speech today -- he's losing it, already lost it actually, he really has to go.

Threatening to bring them to the UN Security council is basically giving NK a free pass. I really hoped Pres Bush would announce something more forceful... naval blockade, preemptive strike on nuclear facilities. Something. Otherwise this loon just gets away with a blatant act of war, IMO.

14. His speech was short - read the whole thing and still lost
his place on the page - no emotion. The usual only a little worse.

20. Where on HuffPo? Don't see it...
I teach public speaking, and on his best day Duhbya might get a B-. Most days, perfectly average--a solid (Yale legacy admit) C.

"The terrorists never stop looking for ways to hurt us, and neither do we." Truth slips out.

7. Of course he wasn't worried, Clinton was in office
and he had the lid screwed tight on NK. Cameras in their nuke facilities, inspectors, no weapons.. It wasn't till he took office that NK became a huge problem.

9. the list of nuclear arsenals shows why we shouldn't worry about Iran
and shouldn't have been worried about Iraq.

We have 10,000 nuclear warheads. If someone used a nuke on us or gave it to a terrorist group that did, they would know that they and their whole country would end up dead.

If Iran or Iraq nuked Israel, Israel could wipe that country off the map and still have enough nukes for every other Arab country.

We are militarily, an 800 lb gorilla, trained to be afraid of ass fleas that couldn't get in more than one lucky shot before we killed then.

with a dull look and a complete lack of curiosity.

Big surprise there.

27. Jon Stewart
did a devastating piece on what Bush thought his job was, like being on the lookout for Congressmen jerking off on the house floor, smiling and shaking hands like a Wal-Mart greeter, and in his own words "My job is to do my job."
We can do better, we must.

35. Here's the exerpt on Rox Populi.
George W. pulled Bandar aside.
"Bandar, I guess you're the best asshole who knows about the world. Explain to me one thing."
"Governor, what is it?"
"Why should I care about North Korea?"
Bandar said he didn't really know. It was one of the few countries that he did not work on for King Fahd.
"I get these briefings on all parts of the world," Bush said, "and everybody is talking to me about North Korea."
"I'll tell you what, Governor," Bandar said. "One reason should make you care about North Korea."
"All right, smart alek," Bush said, "tell me."
"The 38,000 American troops right on the border." ..."If nothing else counts, this counts. One shot across the border and you lose half these people immediately. You lose 15,000 Americans in a chemical or biological or even regular attack. The United State of America is at war instantly."
"Hmmm," Bush said. "I wish those assholes would put things just point-blank to me. I get half a book telling me about the history of North Korea."
"Now I tell you another answer to that. You don't want to care about North Korea anymore?" Bandar asked. The Saudis wanted America to focus on the Middle East and not get drawn into a conflict in East Asia.
"I didn't say that," Bush replied.
"But if you don't, you withdrawl those troops back. Then it becomes a local conflict. Then you have the whole time to decide, 'Should I get involved? Not involved?' Etc."
At that moment, Colin Powell approached.
"Colin," Bush said, "come here. Bandar and I were shooting the bull, just two fighter pilots shooting the bull." He didn't mention the topic.
"Mr. Governor," Bandar said, "General Powell is almost a fighter pilot. He can shoot the bull almost as good as us."
