the "axis of evil" speech. It wasn't that hard to predict, although Bush was claiming that he hadn't decided in Feb. 2003. CBS started running daily "countdown to war" pieces every night after the Senate vote in October 2002.

Bandar learned of the attack plans on Jan. 11, 2003, two days before U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell was told of the decision, according to Woodward.

In a meeting on Jan. 11 with Cheney, Rumsfeld and General Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Bandar was shown a map laying out plans for attacking Iraq, Woodward writes in the book. The map was marked TOP SECRET NOFORN, meaning the classified material wasn't to be shown to non-U.S. officials, according to Woodward.

At the meeting Bandar asked for assurances that Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein wouldn't survive the war as he did the 1991 Persian Gulf War led by Bush's father, President George H.W. Bush. Cheney responded, ``Prince Bandar, once we start, Saddam is toast,'' according to Woodward.

13. Most senior Administration officials

Knew we would be invading Iraq by Sept. 17th 2001 as the latest possible date that we are now aware of. I've seen evidence of the Iraqi plan dating back to the early 1980's though. So I'm sure the AO's knew we would be going in as soon as they took office.

On Sept. 17, 2001, six days after the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, President Bush signed a 2½-page document marked "TOP SECRET" that outlined the plan for going to war in Afghanistan as part of a global campaign against terrorism.
