I remember last year there was giddy dancing in the streets by many Dems anticipating Fitzmas and seeing Cheney being handcuffed and hauled away. That is what gives me pause over how giddy and totally convinced many Dems are now that everything is going to go their way and that Bush will be impeached and humiliated. So it might be well to remember the mood a year ago.

is the DU equivalent of accusing somebody of being a Nazi who is not--it is about the worst thing you can be called and it's an easy accusation to throw out there. I was cautious about Fitzmas and its possibilities and was certainly not one of the ones who were celebrating the win before the game is over. I like to cross the goal line with the ball still in my possession before I start celebrating. In the same way I am not one of the Dems who are howling about everything that is going to be done to Bush and company. I prefer to save the big talk until after we at least win one house in November.

My first presidential election in which I voted was in 1972 and I voted for George McGovern and have voted Democratic ever since. I have also given financial support to Democratic candidates when I could not afford it. So I would suggest that you stick your Hmmmmmmmm where the sun does not shine.

15. The Libby trial is scheduled for January

If Fitzgerald is following the common prosecutorial practice of convicting smaller fish first, then getting them to testify against the larger fish, we won't hear much more from him till Libby's trial in January.

If in January he gets a bunch of convictions against Libby on multiple counts of evil-doing, then he will try to persuade Mr Libby to come meet with the nice people on the grand jury before he meets with the nice judge for his sentencing. This will probably make Mr Libby very thoughtful. With luck, it will also make him very talkative.

If that happens, then we might expect some more indictments of some more people, higher up the food chain, and some more trials.

17. Personally, I've never really trusted him. I figure he was appointed by

the Puke leadership for a reason. I think he's stalling until after the election.

I hope he proves me wrong. But, something just doesn't feel quite right about all the secrecy that he seems to be enforcing about this case.
