NY-26: BREAKING: New Poll Shows Reynolds 15 Points Behind

NRCC chief Tom Reynolds -- who's supposed to be spending all his time helping other GOP Reps keep their jobs -- is now losing by an eye-opening 15 points to Dem challenger Jack Davis, according to a new Zogby International poll done for the Buffalo News. The poll shows Davis leading with 48% of likely voters, to 33% for Reynolds -- a lead that has steadily widened over the last 10 days. The poll also found that of the substantial majority following Foleygate, 57 percent disapproved of Reynolds' handling of it, while only 25 percent approved.

15. Yeah and drive them to the polls in droves
I would not do anything that would let the GOP base get off the mat... But that is just me.

A knock out is far more important than a standing eight count.

The video here:

http://www.firedoglake.com/2006/10/03/nrsc-uses-small-c... /

Reporter: Congressman, do you mind asking the children to leave the room so we can have a frank discussion of this, because it's an adult topic. It just doesn't seem appropriate to me.

Reynolds: I'll take your questions, but I'm not going to ask any of my supporters to leave.

[]

Reporter: Who are the children, Congressman? Who are these children?

Reynolds: Pardon me?

Reporter: Who are these children?

Reynolds: Well, a number of them are from the community. There are several of the "thirtysomething" set that are here and uh I've known them and I've known their children as they were born.

Reporter: Do you think it's appropriate for them to be listening to the subject matter though?

Reynolds: Sir, I'll be happy to answer your questions, I'm still, uh

4. You know this is, or could be a HUGE demoralizing blow to Republicans
because the MSM is not touching this story, and it's one of the biggest stories surrounding Foley. I've heard a lot of stories on NPR about how Republicans don't care about Foley. But I haven't heard NPR mention this race.

BTW, give to Davis:

7. so what is the Sunday GOP strategy? Play the victim card...
its not Hastert's fault... its dirty dems... sitting on the email... timed just to embarass us... waaaa waaaa all their fault...

wtf - I would think that this huge shift in Reynold's support would be a wakeup call to these fools. Those who stay out of the fray - may not be affected... but the moment they get active on the issue and essentially say that it would have been better if the story hadn't broken? ... I would imagine some more polls will show some voter sentiment shift.

... isn't attracting Buffalo-area voters. I guess there's a limit to the sleaze and hypocrisy. Reynolds sure does seem to happily find those limits. :puke:

WIth him distracted on his own race, he can't do shit to help others. With others distracted and worried about their own skeletons, they can't work in concert on a national agenda.
That means it falls to Rove. But Rove just lost his trustee lieutenant, the Abramof bribe babe. He can't do it all. AND Cheney's staff is still trying to help scooter (to save their own butts) and they can't help. That leaves Ken Mehlman (and his bribe issues) and George. PLEASE let it be George. Put his face on TV in every local erection. er, whatever.

Wtf? So exploiting children for a press conference which topic was the scandal involving sexually harassing minors didn't help? In this most repub loving state of all, New York?
Hahaha, he must be proud of his campaign manager! I could have predicted that, too!

Edit: Please help Jack Davis. I just read that Reynolds still has almost 3 Million to spend.

When I saw pictures and videos of that joke of a press conference, I knew that he was in trouble. Whoever had the idea to do something like that must be a total retard. It's wasn't only desperate and transparent, it was just so stupid.

28. Palestinians were accused of using children as shields in gaza.
Reynolds is using children as shields in New York. Either way, it was a spineless, transparent and ultimately, self-destructive act which will come back and haunt him.

his opponent should make an ad just on that issue.

30. Yes, all they need to do is show Tom Reynolds with all the kids, with
the excerpt where the reporter is asking him to dismiss them and he says "I won't have my supporters leave", and say "Tom Reynolds uses children as human shields to avoid answering difficult quesions."

"HAD ENOUGH?"

Yeah, it was unreal. I just saw Stewarts take on that. The journalists asked repeatedly (like post 26 pointed out) whether he could remove the children because the questions would/could be inappropriate for the children. Some of them had to be younger than 5. Totally despicable to even think about bringing them there.

Or as Stewart put it:
"There is nothing that you can ask me about this congressional pedophilia internet masturbation scandal that you can't say in front of my supporters like 4 year old Dimples McGee here.
Isn't that right, Dimples?
Go ahead, talk about jerking off right in front of him, I don't mind."

This race is turning out beyond my wildest best hopes. More than one, actually. NY-26, the Virginia and Montana Senate races, others.

Now if we could only pick up about 30 other surprise seats we weren't expecting, I'd be ecstatic. There is a whole list of Repubs who should be begging quarters at the car wash if there were any justice in this world. Starting with CA-26 (Dreier), TN-3 (Wamp), WY-AL (Cubin). We still have our work cut out for us.
