| Major Timmy Russert Blunder re: Pre-War Intelligence |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-08-06 10:06 AM by The Cleaner
Excellent Bob Woodward interview...BUT...
On Meet the Press this morning, Tim Russert made a grevious error.
While Timmy was grilling Missouri State Senator Jim Talent (R) about Iraq's lack of WMDs, he said, "The WMDs...that our intelligence agencies said he had." And in his next question, he said, "So you're saying that if the CIA was right (about Iraqi WMDs)..."
Timmy is sorely mistaken here. Our intelligence agencies were SCREAMING to the White House that no WMDs existed in Iraq, and that no connection between Saddam and international terrorism could be made. It was George W. Bush who stabbed former CIA Director George Tenant in the back by laying the blame at the feet of the CIA, who Bush and Cheney set up to take the blame.
So why is Timmy disseminating such transparent disinformation? He really should know better.

| 3. Chalabi and Office of Special Plans were making that claim... |
|
and when asked to disprove, the intelligence agencies were in the difficult position of having to prove a negative, which you cannot do conclusively.

| 11. Chalabi fed Bush/Cheney the information they wanted to hear, |
|
even though the CIA was screaming the opposite. I think that the PNAC neocons wanted to attack Iraq so badly that they were willing to believe Chalabi, even though the "evidence" was scant.
Chalabi had his own reasons for his deception and considered it a mutual interest to depose Saddam.

He ramps it up whenever the facts are causing people to see that the lies really start and end in the White House AND the WH mediawhores like him.

| 8. Sometimes I wonder about him... |
|
I remember he was all fired up last year over Bush's lack of response to Katrina, then ended up backing off and blaming the state and local governments...
I just think he flip flops around alot, and just when you think he's finally telling it like it is, he backs off.
In this case it's so transparent that I'd like to see him correct this error. It's just a known fact that CIA pressed against the White House on the WMD issue, the opposite of what Tim said this morning.
