Foleygate IS A DISTRACTION...
... a distraction to KKKarl from whatever he had planned for the 'October Suprise'...

... a distraction to each and every 'thug running for the house/senate... they're having to deflect this instead of slinging mud.

... a distraction to the election theives, since this is gonna make the polls even WORSE and harder to steal.

Oh yes, it's a distraction

1. I would not be suprised
if it was originaly a plan to dump a gay under the bus to deflect attention, and then it got out of control.

2. No way would these guys give up a whole "safe" Repub seat for one of
their schemes.

Far better to dig up or make up some dirt on some Democrat.

Loss of a "safe" seat = a 2 seat swing. Very, very costly.

7. Exactly. In fact, it was that reluctance to lose the seat that lead to the
coverup.

13. "safe seat" means SAFE
In other words, they could have run anyone and they'd have won.

12. so they wouldn't give up one seat in the congress,
even if they feel they may have already lost control of it, in order to retain control of the senate?

call me pragmatic but if it kept my ass out of jail I would.

15. Before the scandal got out, where was evidence they'd lost control of it?

16. had to rethink
my idea and instead of answering, ask me for evidence? where did I say I had evidence? if I had evidence of such would i post it here or sell it elsewhere? what would you do if you had such evidence?

I have no more evidence of my opinion than do you yours. I just think about what I would do if I were in someone else's shoes and trying to accomplish the same goals. just because I wouldn't do something that I find offensive, I don't let that stop me from thinking through the situation from the position of one who would.

3. I agree, but I don't know that it was planned.
Its truly damaging to the Republicans...But I agree its a distraction for DUers. I come here because I get so much insight into the things that slip behind the scenes, like the torture bill and downing street memo. But the Foley thing is something that anybody can figure out, and DUers don't really need to help that understanding along... :)

11. Jesus guys...
The OP is obviously sarcastic. He's ridiculing DUers who can find a Rovian conspiracy in any story, even one that obviously helps us and hurts the GOP. And I agree. Anyone who thinks that Iraq or corruption stories matter nearly as much to Republican voters as sordid sex scandals is living in a dream world.

17. Agreed... as sad as it is, a sex scandal is more important
to the freepers than dead Iraqis and dead American soldiers. You can tell by the spin. They are blaming everyone, trying every spin tactic in Roves playbook. Nothing is helping. Compare the spin on this to Abu Grahib, Enron, Illegal War, WMD's, Osama, Wiretapping, Torture etc, etc, they were proud of those scandals. This one has them shitting in their pants. We need to keep the pressure on about this. While it may seem wierd to us it's what can take them down. Remember all these years DU has been saying it was going to be a dead girl or a live boy, we just forgot to add "the cover-up" that follows....
