Condi's flak jacket tells the truth about Iraq while her lips tell lies
Edited on Fri Oct-06-06 11:44 AM by BurtWorm

Here she is at Baghdad International Aiport yesterday, where she arrived forty minutes late because her jet was circling overhead while a mortar attack was going on below. After being helicoptered to the Green Zone (being driven on the Highway of Death between the airport and the government bunkers secured in the city considered out of the question), and denying that she and her boss lie about what she called "the struggle" beyond the Green Zone walls, she announced that Iraq was making "progress."

:insert smiley slowly and sarcastically applauding:

(PS: That is not Peter Sellers as Dr. Strangelove holding her hand.)

1. In the words of Ann Coulter:
"Things are going swimmingly." She just didn't mention what they were swimming in: blood and bullshit.

2. Wow...even with her helicopter have to circle for 30-60 min
because of incoming fire....she blatently lies......

and by the way if I were going into a war zone...I sure as hell wouldn't have a business suit on....at least jeans....something appropriate....folks she is out of touch and does not have an understanding of how dangerous it is over there for our troops....

3. Apparently they forgot that shoulder-launched rockets . . .
Of which there is apparently no shortage in the region (we flooded Afghanistan with 'em when we were helping Bin Laden kill Russians), can also be used against helicopters. Her color-coordinated armor wouldn't have done much good in that case.

27. I wonder if whovever sent her had something like that in mind
A bullshit mission in the worlds most dangerous place, plus cartoon body armour, sounds like someone wouldn't have shed any tears if she met with an unfortunate accident while there.

28. Hoping for an outpouring of grief, anger, and pride . . .
Leading to another Toby Keith song about sticking boots up someone's butt?

If so, I can only say I'm glad she survived her rather pointless visit.

Ya know, these guys have totally lost it. They don't have a frakkin' clue what to do next. (Possibly because un-breaking an egg is physically impossible.)

Which scares me. When someone who thinks they're all-powerful runs out of ideas for fixing an intolerable situation, they generally do something large and stupid.

4. I wonder if that's the same kind of body armour
the soldiers are being provided with? Or is her's actually capable of stopping something more powerful than a waterballon?

11. Actually, her armor -- which is quite different . . .
From what civilians were being issued when I was in Baghdad 2003-2004, looks *less* effective than what soldiers and marines were getting. Doesn't fit very well, limited side coverage, etc.

But she's the SOS (no, not that acronym, Secretary of State, silly) -- no insurgent would DARE to try to take her out.

15. My thoughts exactly - that vest, by itself, serves what purpose?
Only shoot or have a blast and/or shrapnel hit this area? It's the motorcycling equivalent of a helmet, shorts, and flip-flops.

21. Good analogy . . .
Covers the heart (from the front and back anyway) but offers hardly any serious protection.

There's an awful lot of useless but really expensive protective gear over there.

16. Anyone have the picture of Tony snow going into Iraq-nam a few months ago?
He's got on the body armor and the helmut. Looked like he was going to sh*t a brick. Total friggin' terror on his face.

That pic along this one of Kinda-sleezy would make a good duo showing how safe Da Nang, I mean Bag-daddy, really is.

25. That's because she's the only one there who is important.
Kinda like that shot a couple months ago when some mid-level schmuck was greeted at the airport by the President of Iraq himself, he was wearing body armor and the puppet prez was not.

26. "Secretary Rice, it is not only possible, it is essential. "
"Madam Secretary, it is not only possible, it is essential. That is the whole idea of this machine, you know. Deterrence is the art of producing in the mind of the enemy... the FEAR to attack. And so, because of the automated and irrevocable decision-making process which rules out human meddling, the Doomsday machine is terrifying and simple to understand... and completely credible and convincing. 14. Progress..Hah.
What a bullshit word. Didn't Stalin use that word an awfull lot?

'Progress' is a blatant spin word. What progress Condi? The fact that now nearly 4 years later most people in Baghdad still don't have more than a couple of hours of electricity a day? That sewage still runs in the streets? That it's not safe for most people to leave their homes? That 20% or more of the Iraqi population has fled the country? That there are thousands more innocent Iraqi's dying every week?

Oh wait I forgot. They reopened Saddam's nightmare tourist trap the fake Babylon. Whoop Dee Doo! Sign me up.
