Mark Foley = Tom Foley
Mark Foley = Tom Foley

Isn't it ironic that Tom Foley was Majority Leader who led the Dems to disaster during the early Clinton years and this moran is the Foley who led the Rethugs to disaster this year, presuming that Diebold is not the Deus ex Machina.

Foley should immediately confess that at least one of his grandparents is Jewish, preferably maternal of course, and immediately say that his favorite meal is Jimmy Dean Sausage and his dear departed mom used to make the best shrimp-in-a-basket.

1. Yesterday, someone (Tweety?) slipped and called him "Tom Foley"
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 12:18 PM by Bozita
It went unnoticed. The conversation just kept rolling.

2. Huh?
How can the two be compared? As I recall, Tom Foley was not accused of any crimes, and happened to suffer defeat as a result of the unpopularity of President Clinton and the lies of Gingrich & Co.

Please don't make that kind of comparison.

5. You ain't got no sensayuma...
the Rethugs said this...try to relax and enjoy this piling on of this S.O.B. Meanwhile, Foley allowed the Dem Congress to browbeat the new President and did not help matters all that much in that regard...unlike the Rethugs who were in lock-step with *.

8. I don't mind piling on MARK FOLEY,
I just don't think the comparison to Tom Foley is equivalent. That's all.

3. Maybe that's why both Fox News and AP identified Mark Foley as a Dem
So that they innocently claim it was a clerical error.

4. Tom Foley was a decent guy.
There's no comparison. He lost to George Nethercutt because he defended the constitution.

7. We don't need no decent guys...
We conceded the 2000 election in every sense after the Supremes sent down their decision and marched in line with these guys for 5 full years until the dam has burst. Now all the Dems are finally growing a pair.

We need the same hunger and meanness to win. If you think nice guys finish first, think again.

No profile, I noted too. Why, how very curious....? Now why would that be?

12. This was intended to be a joke...
you obviously don't get it.

Let me ask you a question...does it not vauguely appeal to your sense of,say coincidence that both changes in the House (we can only hope) were named Foley.

I did not disparage Tom Foley...I merely stated that the man who took the hear, Tom from the Rethugs and this guy from the Dems and all right-thinking folks had the same frigging last name.

Now listen up...don't start, Sherlock, thinking. I have no published profile, but long time DUers will recall my blog on my private dinner with Joe Wilson and my literally hundreds of posts on Election night 2004 and my discussion fo the Casey campaign against Santorum.. My bona fides are well known around here. I had many issues with Foley as a Democratic politician but I weas in no way comparing him to this idiot.

Now get a life and stop taking yourself so seriously.

16. Get real...YOU equated EQUATED Tom Foley = Mark Foley
EQUATED! NO sarcasm emoticon... nothing. I'm not buying it. Your doing so, is simply abhorent. I have a life, thank you--one where I treat others with the respect they deserve. Tom Foley has done NOTHING to deserve your horrendous comparison, and YOU did make the comparison, no matter how much you try to suggest you were JUST joking...:eyes:

Tactics similar to those in play now by the RW.... perhaps you miss the irony...

15. a) His district hasn't elected a Democrat since.
b) The business of government changed from when he was first elected in 1964.

Nice guys don't finish first any more. At one time the good guys like Tom Foley could make their world a better place, now they get ridiculed for no better reason than they happen to share the same last name as a Republican pedophile.

9. This is abhorent.... Why on earth you would compare Tom Foley
to Mark....

What, exactly were YOU trying to accomplish? Yes, I know some people have been accidentlly doing it and I have been posting corrections-as have others when seen.

Here is the bio info for Tom FOley: an accomplished and ethical man, as far as I can tell, former Democratic SPeaker of the House and former ambassador to Japan. He lost his reelection bid in 94 with the Gingrich takeover. So, perhaps he may not have been as effective a campaign strategist as we might like, but to paint him with a MARK FOLEY scandal brush? That is unconscionable. I ask again, What exactly were YOU trying to accomplish by doing so?

11. That's an insult to Tom Foley.
Isn't there some awful guy named "Mark" you can compare him too? It'd make as much sense.

Sheesh.

who was in a significant position in the last Congress run by a Democrat.

See post above...and forget the whole frigging thing...
