Do you live in an apartment?
If you live in an apartment in a Democratic neighborhood, please consider doing this:

Use your computer printer to print sheets saying:

We vote on November 7, 2006. The polling place is open from ___AM to ___PM.

Our polling place is located at (ADDRESS).

Directions there: (DRIVING DIRECTIONS CREATED WITH YAHOO! MAPS)

Then slip the sheets under the door of each apartment.

It's a non-partisan message, and so hopefully your neighbors won't mind.

If you don't know your polling place, it may be listed at your state's Secretary of State website. Including your Precinct Number would be a useful bonus if multiple precincts vote at the same location.

1. I live in a very Republican neighborhood
and I'm pretty sure the apartment complex votes the same way--it's a pretty upscale place. So I'm going to pass on doing that in my situation.

2. Why limit your suggestion to apartments?
My husband and I canvas for our local Dem candidates in all kinds of neighborhoods. We walk through moblile home parks, adult living complexes, townhomes, older homes, new McMansion neighborhoods, anything and everything. We do have the benefit of the campaign providing us with information about where the Dems are, and we only target those, plus the independents. However, any DUer who lives in a mostly Dem neighborhood could use your suggestion, apartment or not. It just takes a little more work and a little more walking with single family homes.

5. Yes, people who know the houses in a neighborhood...
...mostly have Democrats can put polling place information in the doorways.

(It's illegal to put things in mailboxes except by mailing them.)

4. Another suggestion...
even though it might not be specific to your particular voting district... but, when I was in Texas, I'd drop flyers in grocery carts. Can't say how effective it was, but it was easy to do.
