1. If we just keep repeating "They hate us for our freedom"
it'll all be ok, right Dubya? :sarcasm:

were based out of Elmendorf AFB here in Anchorage. We just got through burying the four Alaska guard helicopter crew members who died in that crash that killed 12 a couple weeks ago. This is getting really, really old.

4. January has been the deadliest month for Alaska's military service people
since the Iraq conflict began.

On Jan. 7, a Black Hawk helicopter crash claimed the lives of four Alaska Army National Guard members: 1st Lt. Jaime Lynn Campbell, who was stationed in Fairbanks, Spc. Jacob Melson of Wasilla, and Spc. Michael Edwards and Chief Warrant Officer Chester Troxel, both of Anchorage.

One other Elmendorf airman has been killed in Iraq. Airman 1st Class Carl Anderson Jr. died Aug. 29, 2004, after the vehicle he was driving hit a roadside bomb near Balad Air Base, about 40 miles north of Baghdad. He was 21.

So far, at least 15 service people with connections to Alaska are confirmed dead in Iraq. Since the Iraq war began, 2,227 U.S. military personnel have been killed, according to The Associated Press.

the hostage who was recently killed. The war is hitting awfully close to home. We are a small state population-wise, 600,000 or so. All of these casualties seem very personal, like a death in the family.

7. question
Are our forces so depleted that we've got wingwaxers doing infantry duty?Otherwise what were two zoomies doing down where a "blast" ,I presume from some sort of IED, could get them? My condolences to their loved ones.
