Let it go. Really, it's okay.
A country that tortures itself with Coulter and Limbaugh, Grace and O'Reilly, worships a government of propaganda, is duped left and right, well, a people that loves getting tortured is welcome to it. If that is what gets them off, who am I to object? To each their own.

And they won't really need habeas corpus because they can be equally tormented in prison.

So, I'm okay with the vote today and just consider it an inevitable logical conclusion.

This isn't resignation, nor is it a passive/aggressive "I hope they burn in hell." Nor is it resentment of their power.

No, though there is some contempt, there is also an affirmative sense of well-being in the recognition that the country has to swing into fascism before it realizes what it is doing. The country has to "hit bottom" like any addict has to, be the addiction crack or power.

Nothing I can do about it except this: "The best revenge is to live life well."

2. Well before it hits bottom, it will be too late
It may already be. But if it isn't, I am not resigned and I am not reconciled.

4. The reclusive life is actually quite good if not for...
... news and politics. My next step is to cut cable and Internet access, something I would have done already if not for a roommate that uses it.

3. You are right, but for obvious reasons...
there will need to be some sort of sanctuary to protect those of us who aren't out of our sculls.

5. The trouble with that logic is like comparing a barrel of apples
some are rotten and others are starting to rot. If we throw out the rotten ones and the ones beginning to rot we can save the others. If we just let them rot the whole barrel becomes no good to anyone or anything. America is that barrel and half of it is rotten. It won't be long now before all is rotten and we have no more apples...I guess the next move is to chop down the apple trees.
