If DUers all call Democratic Senators we can be heard on torture bill
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 09:33 AM by Armstead
That means You.

Call your own Democratic Senator and also Reid and any other leaders and let then know the people are watching.

I'm not suggesting identifying yourself as a DUer. Probably better to just be calling as individuals. But if a large number of us do call, it will be heard.

DU may be small within the larger universe, but there are enough of us that we would register on the political Richter Scale if each of us just took a few minutes NOW to express our opinions and call on them to DO SOMETHING.

My sense from talking to someone in Kerry's office is that they see it as a lost cause. But I think if enough people make enough noise they might reconsider that passive stance.

3. Because of the GOP numbers
Maybe it is a lost cause, maybe it isn't.

But goddang it, they ought to at least fight this thing and bring it to the attention of the American people.

This is a clear case of GOP Fascists in action.

14. The Dems need to absolutely fight this thing
and bring it to the attention of the American people.

Yes, Armstead, they need to fight it even if they don't have the votes.

For cryin' out loud, THEY NEED TO STAND FOR SOMETHING.

4. I have no Democratic Senator. Only the cat killing, day trader
called Frist. I think of him more as a giant rubber stamp.

11. Just talked to staffers...
MAYBE they were weary of getting calls condemning the Torture Bill.

Maybe the Porcine Mammal will grow feathers and take to transportation in a 3D airy media.

8. In all fairness. to the staffer,....."Lost cause" was my phrase
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 10:05 AM by Armstead
I was referring to the sense I got from talking to a Senate staffer. She did give the impressionb that the Democratic Senators haven;t thought a filibuster would be successful, but she didn;t use the words "lost cause."

I trold her that they should for any parliamentary tactic they could find to block, delay or at least demonstrate their clear opposition on a unified basis.
