WTF is going on? We're getting rid of the protections demanded by the Geneva Conventions, and even those defined in the Magna Carta?

And don't give me that "it's an election year" bullshit. It's about damn time that the Dems actually stood up on their hind legs and fought something. Filibuster, shut down the government, take to the bully pulpit, something, anything, but fight damn it! than being one of a majority. Even when you are in the minority a vote speaks. Some of the most important votes in history have been dissenting votes.
