Ala. Christian Coalition Changes Name

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Christian Coalition of Alabama changed its name Thursday
to Christian Action Alabama to reflect its split from the once-powerful national
organization.

Last month, Alabama followed the lead of Iowa's and Ohio's Christian Coalition
organizations in separating from the Christian Coalition of America. They disagreed
with new directions being taken by the national group, including its support for a
higher minimum wage.

The Christian Coalition of America has dwindled from 50 active state organizations,
Giles said. He said the three large state organizations that left have discussed
trying to establish a Washington presence before the 2008 presidential election.

After the Alabama group announced its split in August, Christian Coalition President
Roberta Combs insisted her organization would survive.

3. Why couldn't it have been
Christian Action Coalition of Alabama? That way, its acronym would be CACA.
