Uptick in Bush's approval ratings
have got to be screwed up, or skewed up. I just saw a poll from WSJ/NBC where he had gained a few extra points. Considering WSJ is in on it I do not believe he has risen any. I don't know where NBC stands on this, but it is just another indication that the media are nonresponsive to the truth. Either the fix is in for 2006/2008 and they are just covering their rear ends, or they really think we are dumb. They refer all day to the better "approval" numbers as if their lives depended upon it and they may be right. Have they been threatened, bought off, whatever? The propaganda is sickening. Just letting off steam to the choir.

1. I was expecting it to go up a little after the 9/11 anniversary and all of
Bush's war speeches last week. I'm guessing that the bump is only temporary.

On the other hand, they could be going up because gas prices have been coming down.

3. Things that make you go HMMMM..
I'm wondering if the drop in gasoline prices is collusion between the WH and oil companies, coming so close to the elections??

5. I think Thom Hartmann mentioned a direct inverse correlation
between gas prices and bush's approval ratings. As gas prices go up, bush's rating go down. As gas prices drop, bush's approval rating go up. Can't cite the source though, sorry.

2. The only thing that I think is giving him a bump right now is the sagging
gas prices. I really don't think his Terra!Terra!Terra! tour is going to give him any bump at all. People are hurting and the only thing that'll make people happy is some help in their pocketbooks.

6. Lower gas prices.
I truly believe that * said to his oil buddies, "Hey, just drop the price for a month or so as a personal favor to me." You know that they're going to go up again after Nov. 7.

4. His base is re-energized.....
This is normal close to an election...

One telling snap is the 38% of Americans who strongly disapprove of the President... This is on Rassmuesen. He only has 22% strongly approving....

Even if the somewhats split 50/50, the highest Bush could hope for would be 47%...

7. This could be disasterous for the Democratic "strategy":
"Hide under the bed and hope that Bush fucks up enough that we back into winning the 2006 elections."

Bush's ratings will have nothing to do with the outcome of the upcoming elections or anything else. If and when the Dems aggressivelly stand and declare what they believe, the elections will be ours. Until then, we continue to be "Not Bush". Sadly, that is "Not Good Enough."

11. A few extra points is likely meaningless, since it is probably within
the margin of error. Is there a particular survey you are referring to? What were the results and what was the stated margin of error?

The media has a tendency, when the results are in Bush's favor, of ignoring the fact that a change in the numbers is MEANINGLESS if the change is within the margin of error. However, when the results go against Bush, then they suddenly remember what the margin of error means.
