Republican PAC sends out fake Sex Offender Notice to WA State Voters
Republican PAC sends out fake Sex Offender Notice to Washington State voters

... What motivated me to finally post was a fake sex offender notice I received in the mail today. On the front it said Sex Offender Notification is bold capital letters. However the back of the postcard didn't contain any information on a sex offender that may be living in my community. It contained a message from a Republican PAC called The Speaker's Roundtable. The message was that my Democratic State Senator refused to impose life sentences for violent sex predators, and accused him of protecting sex offenders over children. Below is a link to the only website I found that has a copy of the postcard up.

I have updated the diary to refer to The Speaker's Roundtable as a PAC instead of a 527. Thank you for pointing out my mistake. I will post a copy of the postcard I received once I figure out how to post pictures.

The name on this postcard is a 10 term Democratic State Representative from Southeastern Washington. This is a conservative area mostly because of farmers, and gun nuts.

1. Senators Do Not Execute People
"my Democratic State Senator refused to impose life sentences"

It might interest the writer to find out that Judges, not Senators, sentence prisioners to death, or otherwise ....

2. The Dems should put a picture of the opposing politician on this card...
and send it out claiming that he/she is a registered sex offender. Do it through a front group that can't be traced.

4. I disagree
I say we adopt tactics which make Rove look like an angel in comparison!

This "we're above all that" attitude has been killing us for years.

5. When I get a dirty trick political ad I do this:
If I get a dirty political ad or receive a push-poll, I write a personal letter to the candidate with a copy of the mailing or a description of the call. I tell them that I am offended by his dirty campaigning, and that I now know all I need to know about him. I tell him that I will be voting for his opponent, and that I will be sending a copy of this letter via e-mail to everyone I know, encouraging them to do likewise.

If it is a Democrat who does it, (and sometimes it is) I tell them that I am a life-long Democrat and that they had my vote wrapped up, and blew it.

I'm sure it doesn't do a thing to stop dirty politics, but it makes me feel better.

7. Actually that's a very good idea. IF everyone did that,
I bet those tactics would SSTOP!

I know ALL the people I've seen interviewed over many years, when asked why dirty tricks are used, ALL say "Because they work!"

6. And WE apologize?
Please send this ad to Harry Reid. Maybe he'll stop apologizing to the psychopaths in the Republican Party.
