The video also has advice, in English, printed on the screen to followers of al-Qaeda: "Don't be afraid. Don't talk or hesitate. Just wage Jihad – which means Holy war."

3. It actually means struggle, and it is more classically used like

the effort to not give in to 'temptation.' Ya know, you may want to hustle that cute babe, but avoid the temptation. You may want to go get drunk in that bar, but avoid the temptation. You might want to skip your five time a day prayers, but you avoid the temptation and "do the right thing."

That act is jihad...it happens every day. This "crazy guy with cloth on head" version of jihad is a bit of an inflation of what used to be the ordinary meaning...
