A stunning example of Freeper idiocy and hypocrisy!
I was having a discussion with a Freeper yesterday. I was attempting to reason with them using facts, but that wasn't working. Facts mean nothing to these people, even when you show them proof to their face, they deny it.

So...we got on the topic of the upcoming ABC movie, and they said it would prove to America that the attacks on 9/11 were Bill Clinton's fault. This sent me off the deep edge.

I yanked out George Bush's Resume, which has been posted here at DU many times, and pointed out that Bush has a very long history of FAILURE. Then I pointed out The Bush Crime Family™ had a relationship with Nazi Germany. Then I pointed out that Republicans were in denial about their President, their party, and that they had set a double standard for events, placing all blame on the Democrats and accepting none of it themselves.

What finally shut the Freeper up?

I pointed out to them that when the first attack on the World Trade Center happened on February 26, 1993, Bill Clinton had only been President since January 20, 1993, barely one month. Yet he didn't place the blame on Bush I.

Yet George Bush, after being in office for almost 8 months on September 11, 2001, still found a way to put the blame on someone else. I said Bill Clinton is obviously a bigger man than George Bush, because he didn't set out immediately looking for someone else to blame.

This shut them up, they had nothing to offer as an explanation. I asked how could it be that Clinton was responsible for BOTH? If Clinton was responsible for 9/11, it would seem that Bush I was responsible for the first attack on the WTC.

Silence. It was stunning. I could have smacked them with a frying pan and the look would have been the same. I then handed them the papers I had printed out, Bush's Resume, etc., and told them to check the facts for themselves and see what type of people they were supporting.

I also told them until they recognized they had been wrong, I could no longer be friends with them, and that I would not respond to phone calls, messages, or anything else until they admitted the facts I gave them were the truth. We'll see where it goes, I just can't stand by people who are allowing so much harm to come to others, all the while professing to be good Christians and upstanding citizens.

They have all the proof they need in their hands now. What they do with it is up to them, and if they aren't American enough or human enough to research for themselves, I'm better off without them for a friend, because their values do not mesh with mine. I may have been wrong to cut them off, but I feel better now that I've said what I've been feeling for a long time.

1. Well done...amazing what shut them up, though....
They can stick their fingers in their ears for everything, save the fact that Bill had less time in office and didn't lash out. Curious, that!

8. It surprised me as well.
I don't think they'd ever realized what the time frame was. Here they were blaming Clinton for both, and anyone with any reasonable intelligence knows that with only one month under your belt, you're barely up and running. Staff still has to be hired, systems have to be developed, etc. No one could expect Clinton's Administration to be at full speed in only a month.

But after 8 months, it's reasonable to expect that most of the kinks had been worked out and things were running pretty smoothly.

Of course, you have to show up for work from time to time as well...and we all know where Bush spent the month of August, 2001...enough said about that.

2. Nice ammo!
Nicely done. I have essentially cut off all ties to acquaintances I used to know. Most of them were never "friends", only co-workers and the like. I'm much more relaxed because of it, but I admire those who keep plugging away at the granite-like consistency of these people's hard heads.

Let's hope you finally made an impression. If you didn't, no big loss anyway. You should hang around those of equal intelligence.

3. What shuts them up for me? Agreeing with them that it WAS Clinton's fault
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 10:52 AM by blm
because Clinton chose to close the books on Bush crimes committed in IranContra and BCCI. Had BCCI documents been fully revealed, the terrorist networks funded by internationial financiers and their institutions would have been fully exposed BEFORE they grew into the monstrous sized organizations.

Tell them to trust their own research and that they should use their search engines for BCCI - Bush - Bin Laden - Pakistan - and see what they come up with.

Had BCCI been fully revealed there would be no 9-11 and no Bush would have been allowed NEAR the WH ever again, let alone INSIDE it.

Why did Clinton close the books on BushInc crimes?

I have been put off in the recent years with Clinton having his nose up Pappies' behind. It appears that they are all in bed together, so to speak.

4. Noah's Story is a Perfect Example of the Freeper Mentality
While Noah wanted to warn as many as possible or the danger ahead, they ridiculed and mocked him out of sheer ignorance and hatred. They all died.

Or how about the fable of the grashopper and the worker ants?

I commend you for trying... I do the same... some eventually get that they are being conned, others like you say, have an already pre-conceived notion about information and its origins when it comes from a liberal or even somebody who mistrusts this administration. So when arguing with them, they not only have a prejudice that keeps them deaf and blind, but they also have a set of misinformation countering every fact already available to them.

14. And that is a significant fact, as well.
That information was on the papers I handed them as I said good bye. If they take the time to read the information I provided them, and research it to prove to themselves that it is indeed factual, they will come to the same conclusion we have: that Bush is a failure, a liar, and a dangerous man to have in the Oval Office.

Further, they will see that historically, Republicans have been responsible for, or had a role in, most of the heinous things that have happened to our country. Everything this person needs to turn on the light and see the truth is right there. It will be interesting to see what they do with it.

20. This point must be made by Dems as it is point on
Richard Clarke and Cressy have told their story of Clinton's efforts concerning al queda from the beginning of his admin. after the first trade center bombing. So Clinton didn't get it "exactly" right, he darn sure knew what the problem was.

But, the Neocons had to bring a civil lawsuit against Clinton saying he had plenty of time to defend himself against a personal matter. Yeah, right???

This never gets mentioned. Most of America was amazed that Clinton could be sued on a personal issue while holding the presidency. Let along impeachment hearings. Could that be why his approval rate at the end of his presidency was in the 60% range?

All the while Clinton was fully aware of the dangers of terrorist groups that were bouncing around countries making plans to do the western world in. Bush gets up there today and says "the Wall" kept him from knowing of any possible attacks as the FBI & CIA couldn't communicate, sheesh, what bs. FBI ignored the Arizona and Minnesota agents warning, enough said.

bush was in office for 8 months and did Nothing to pursue the evil ones. He was busy talking Star Wars, oh, and Iraq. Clarke tells that story quite well in his book. Clarke and other counter-intel people were warning (hair on fire) that something very serious was brewing and the bushies purely ignored it say they didn't have date and time of such a possible attack!? Or, as Condi said, who could have imagined that the evil ones would fly planes into buildings - info that was plainly in the Intel files.

And bush gets on stages now and states if only that "wall" hadn't got in their way. Gee, how did Clinton manage to know more than bushies?

25. And of course Freepers don't want to hear how their GOP-led Congress
wouldn't work with Clinton on the Anti-Terrorism Bill in 1996, which could have possibly prevented 9/11 altogether. Trent Lott just didn't think it was very important at the time... :eyes:

Several thousand dead Americans and American troops would disagree with that conclusion.

10. It was the fact that Clinton was more 'manly' than Bush
Most white, male republicans are such because they identify with the 'macho' posturing of the Republicans. They have been convinced that the Democrats are the party of 'niggers and queers' and so, to protect their own fragile self-image, they reject ANYTHING that might even HINT that they are, in actuality, quivering little pansies wanting 'dubya' to protect them.

So...GO AFTER THAT MEME DIRECTLY!!!!

Declare loudly that ONLY COWARDS SUPPORT REPUBLICANS

Some talking points:
Republicans think America is too WEAK to defeat terrorists without resorting to giveing up freedoms and invading unrelated countries.

Republicans think Americans are such pansies that they will let the Republicans change America to appease the terrorists. (that word 'appease' holds a lot of weight against these people)

Republicans can't even catch ONE guy. Even CLINTON CAUGHT the guys responsible for the attacks in '93

and my personal favorite:
I'M NOT SCARED ENOUGH TO VOTE REPUBLICAN

22. Yeah, but ya' know that bush doesn't intent to use the law
to get those terrorist. By the way, speaking of the law, bush admits that KSM (?), that awful terrorist, has been held for 3 years(!) in an undisclosed place but, Now, he will be brought to Gitmo and tried (2 months before our elections). Amazing admission wouldn't you say? Three years? What kind of torture has this guy endured and after 3 years of being held in an undisclosed place, what value was the info obtained? Now he is being transferred to Gitmo under U.S. protection. Now bush wants to use the "law" to his advantage, why not 3 years ago, and that goes for all those at gitmo, either they are guilty or not, let courts decide. Remember Moussoui (?) and all those heavy charges against him that are now reduced to something pretty meager. bushco has made the charges of guilty to all those at gitmo without a trial.

No American wants the guilty to go free. But let's review the U.S. Constitution concerning guilt or innocence and follow the law. Clinton allowed the one eyed Sheik to go through the court system and was found guilty and discovered documents and evidence as to the terrorist plans/methods for attacking the U.S. Valuable info that bush/condi/Cheney's intel people ignored.

16. Did you bring up Smirky's apathy to NOLA and the Gulf Coast?

His lack of concern in the days immediately following the landfall of Katrina was characteristic of his whole tenure in office. People died and those that survived had to endure, and still endure, nightmarish conditions. Life will never be the same for them. He didn't start to take any action at all until it was pointed out in the media how bad things were and that he wasn't doing a damn thing about it except pointing fingers.

23. So damn true, the real bush revealed
Are people paying attention? U.S. Citizens suffered unbelievably and doofus "wasn't aware." That beautiful city/area, yes, even the very poor, were totally ignore.

Now Houston is complaining about the violence due to the evacuated. Right, all heart. You can't tell me that most evacuees are attacking people in Houston. More bush bs and hype for election time. This is an example of trashing the poor everywhere. That's a no brainer. Can we hear from Barbara (beautiful mind) bush on this "terrible" situation. Can you hear her saying that after all her son did for those poor people this is how they act. Ugh

bush has no tolerance for those that can't pull themselves up by their own boot straps. Repubs have this vision of only the rich are repubs and the poor with their hand out for charity are Dems. That is what drives me crazy that this ploy works, rich = repub, poor = dem., no one wants to be considered poor so if you vote repub you must have status and money.

26. I have talked to them before about Katrina, and the horrors of NOLA.
I really wanted to slap them during this conversation. They swallowed the whole "Who could have predicted such a thing could ever happen?" line completely! I remember at one point, I turned them around and parted their hair on the back of their head with my fingers. I told them I was looking for the Kool-Aid Plug-In! This happened in front of a large group of people, many of whom laughed but later told me I'd made my point.

For their birthday earlier this year, I gave them The Stepford Wives CD. I think they got the point.

When some of the horrible images of our fellow dead Americans in New Orleans started showing up on the internet, I forwarded a few of them to this person, with a warning to view only if they could stomach the truth of what our GOP-led government has allowed to happen in America.

I included the pictures of Bush having cake with McCain and playing the guitar as well, with the caption, "While Americans were dying, the Emperor was partying."

He mentioned the Sarin Gas, in particular.

My response was, "You mean the old weapons left over from Desert Storm? The weapons that could no longer possibly function as intended?"

I am so disappointed sometimes...

19. They blame Ruby Ridge on Clinton
and he wasn't even in office at the time. Poppy also started Waco, which they blame on Reno. And Poppy put troops into Somalia, which they also blame on Clinton. Then, what he did do, they don't give credit for - like catching the WTC bombers, the OKC bombers, and FEMA's work on the 500 year Mississippi flood. It's stunning how much they are able to lie and get away with it.

Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 01:36 PM by lyonn
They must trash his admin. The best 8 years in 30 years. How dare a nobody from Arkansas do so well in office, got us out of debt, tried to make peace in the ME, get the economy out of the shi--er, saw that the health care industry needed a major change, etc.

bush has trashed the intel agencies so bad that only the yes men are left. We are in deep doo doo with bushco mentality.

Should we get control of the House and have subpoena power how things could change. No more Mr. Nice guy. The repubs deserve no respect. Clinton had his reasons for ignoring the previous admins. and that was a Big Mistake. Let us hope it doesn't happen again, too much at stake now.

Edit: Yes, I voted for Reagan twice and how I hate living with that fact. Sorry guys - now I am totally hostile to the repub party. They are devious SOB
