I don't mind ABC airing "Path to 9/11"
as long as they do the journalistically-responsible thing and follow it with "Fahrenheit 9/11".

Fair enough.

1. Yeah right, the parent co. -Disney- wouldn't even distribute F9/11
THAT genius decision cost their bottom line about $100 Million but then that isn't really what they were worried about now were they?

2. $100M was likely a drop in the bucket
compared to all those exec tax breaks the admin has been serving up on a platter.

3. $100M Isn't A Drop In The Bucket To ANY Company
It was a bad business decision, and there are people at Disney who know it.

4. My wife worked at Disney
and watched them, firsthand, write off $7M as a clerical error. The company has $31B/yr in revenues.

$100M is a drop in the bucket.

5. Sorry, But That's Just Nonsense
0.3% of revenues is not a drop in the bucket. For ANY company, your wife's experience notwithstanding.

It was an egregious business decision and they know it. Even Wal-Mart, which is 5 times larger than Disney, would not look at $100M as a drop in the bucket.

The only people who would think this is a drop in the bucket would be the Bush administration who don't have a problem borrowing an extra $300 billion every year.

6. Look at it this way
How much (cumulatively) has Disney's Board of Directors and major stockholders, clearly in the top second percentile income-wise, saved in slashed taxes thanks to the Bush administration? Over eight years, without getting too deep into the calculations, it's a pretty good guess that it would dwarf $100M. Had F911 gone into wide, Disney-backed release--might it have affected the 2004 election results?

So it was hardly an "egregious business decision" for Disney to support Bush administration policies. And AFAIK they aren't clamoring for the rights to MM's next movie.

7. Or maybe, at different points during the broadcast,
they point out that this is speculatively based on the 9/11 commission report in the same way that "8 Below" was speculatively "based on a true story" ...
