The Vast Majority Of People In This Country Are MORONS!
I'm sorry, but every day that passes, I become more convinced of this fact.

Now, I want to clarify, that I don't think this necessarily applies to all of those at DU. In fact, I think the majority of those who read and post here are probably intelligent and able to comprehend what is taking place in this country..

The remainder, however, are Stupid Sheepie Morons! Watching their John Karr coverage 24/7. Believing EVERYTHING that King george, Dick, rummie, rice, et al....spout from their LYING Pie Holes.

Can't wait to get home and watch their F-X News, or wake in the morning and listen to rush Limpballs.

Like my stupid church going secretary, who bitches and complains about how tough it is to make ends meet. Who comments that my take-out lunch for $6 is WAY too expensive for her budget. Yet, votes CONSITENTLY WITHOUT WAVER, repub, Each & Every Time. Because it's the christian thing to do. Yet is so Frickin' hypocritical it makes me sick.

And there's no arguing with these people. And they're SO STUPID as to think the conservatives are on their side. They'll follow them like Jesus right over the cliff, and blame the liberals on the way down to the ground.

And we think that we're going to be able to save this country from itself? Who are we kidding? Not even a complete and total collapse of this country would change these people into realizing the true situation. They're Stupid, and that's how they want to remain.

2. Not that I give polls much credence
but virtually all of the recent polling indicates that things may not be as far gone as you think.

Though, personally, I'm inclined to agree with you.

3. Oh, I don't know--"Vast majority" with the exception of Duers
afterall Gore won the popular vote in 2000 and Kerry got 48% in 2004--so there are alot of people who know better. And not all the Bush voters are pathetic morans--some are well meaning people who don't know any better.

4. I think a good percentage of the American Public
may well be morons,as you say, but I think a greater percentage of them are either apathetic (they just don't want to do anything about what is happening until it affects them directly), or they are just convinced that there is nothing to be done about it.
If that second group can be convinced that there IS Hope and that changing the horror that is our government today CAN be done, miracles could be achieved.
I can't really say I see that happening, but hope springs eternal!

7. How many people are working two jobs?
While taking care of a family? Worrying about health care? Worrying about their kids' education?
Some people are morons, or as they prefer to call themselves, morans. However, many people are just overwhelmed in just trying to make it through the day or month. Yes, people watch television. It's a cheap and readily available narcotic to forget the problems.

9. When are we going to finally get pissed enough to
do something?

Our country is being ruined and nobody is doing anything about it. I want to take to the streets, but I'd probably be the only out there, with the rest of the sheeple looking at me like I just flashed them.

23. Nothing wakes up people like massive unemployment, unpaid bills, etc
When they lose their job, can't pay their bills, get sick and have no healthcare, and the value of their homes drops below the amount they owe while their payments continue to climb with variable interest rate loans, then ....

....and only then, people will begin to awake from their apathetic sleep, look around and wonder what has happened.

11. Your Secretary...
...is probably hinting at the fact that she needs a raise.

A lot of economic strife in America can be contributed to the stagnant minimum wage, but what your secretary is paid is up to either you or your common employer.

Secretaries usually make above minimum, and, despite her political tilt, if she's due a raise, give it to her.

You'll make your argument for Democratic reform--such as free health care and a decent wage for everyone--much more convincing if you first put it in practice in your private life.

15. My Secretary Is A MORON!
She listens to rush on her way into work each day. She BELIEVES the repubs care about people like her. Ya know, the lower middle class.

Raise? She is compensated very fairly, yet she and hubby both have to work just to make ends meet.

But is ANY of this the fault of the conservatives? Of course not! She's a hypocrite, and a MORON.

25. Would you feel she is fairly compensated...
if she voted for the Democrat in every race, donated to the DNC, and sat around constantly worrying about the ozone layer, or do you just think that because she's a "moron" she doesn't deserve a raise?

there was an article in the LA Times last year about how folks tune in to hateradio on their long commutes to/from work and how it affected their perception of things. KTLK 1150 am is a good alternative!

Peace from LA Cty.

was thinking about this today. C-span caller a few months ago referred to our country as being run by a bunch of hillbilly's ,and that we are. I think that the technology of life moved so fast in the late 90's that it scared people who couldn't keep up. Thus the latte sucking liberals in their Volvo's became an icon. The repubs ( Rove) saw this and knew that these people were at least 50% of the US and then made there pitch. These people take comfort in the fact that they have an socially inept as a president, they can relate. They don't read or pay much attention to politics , so Fox tell's them what to think and they have no idea that they are being turned into third world workers by an evil empire. So now the inmates are running the asylum and will continue to vote against there best interests. The best we can do is to keep trying to put the word out to them and hope they see the light.

16. I'm Not Perfect
But I'm certainly NOT a moron.

I'm not living paycheck to paycheck, yet voting Every Time repub, because I think they have my best interests at heart.

I don't actually believe that the conservatives are working for me by trying to get rid of the estate tax, when my net worth is about $3 Million below being subject to estate tax.

I don't believe that a Clinton tax cut is BAD for the middle class, while a King george cut is GREAT.

I'm not exceptionally intelligent, but I'm also NOT A MORON SHEEPIE.

30. Probably has something to do with the fact
Edited on Tue Aug-29-06 11:07 AM by Strawman
that I suspect your secretary was having trouble making ends under Clinton too and believes that's probably not going to change no matter which party is running Washington. And it's hard to argue with that. People are cynical about government. And if government can't do anything substantial without fucking it up, what's left: bullshit like flag burning. Cultural wedge issues. It's frustrating, but they arent' going to turn into policy experts overnight. If we really fight for things that matter to working people, maybe they'll come back to putting bread and butter issues first.

It's all rote memorization, no critical thinking. Indeed, when I was in high school ('98-'04) I got IN TROUBLE for questioning what was being taught, I was PUNISHED for being a critical thinker.
