"Ernesto" should be in the gulf next week:

and may be a category one by Wednesday. Keep an eye out folks.

3. Well, everything else has fizzled this year
and maybe Ernesto will wimp out, too.

We can hope. It would be nice to have a year off from these storms to catch our collective breath, do some rebuilding, restock storm supplies, and form strategies to deal with the inevitable if we live in coastal areas.

I wish the best to everyone on the coasts. I'm still glad I was able to sell my pop's house quickly this year so that I no longer have to worry.

Now about these damn NM floods....

4. The local TV weather guy
doesn't seem to think that this storm will amount to too much but mother nature has a warped sense of humor. After katrina, such pictures of storms heading to the gulf give you that unexplainable feeling in the stomach.

10. Most of the things that would slow it down are gone
Except for one area in the western caribbean that will probably be dissipated by the time the storm gets in that area.

This is prime hurricane time - end of August to first weeks of September. The warm waters in the Caribbean and the Gulf are gonna feed this sucker.

7. We've been tracking since yesterday
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 08:10 AM by malaise
Unless he slows down, we'll only face a Tropical Storm. The track is very similar to Gilbert in 88, just slightly south of Jamaica.

The monsoons pause when there is a storm in the Atlantic.

14. Tropical Storm Ernesto
is now moving WNW. The good news for Jamaica is that he's picked up speed again -now 16mph.
