When he landed on the "Mission Accomplished" aircraft carrier.

9. Not too long ago there was an article in The New Yorker or
Vanity Fair that discussed at length Chucklenuts propensity to play dress up - that is what they called it - dress up. Every jacket he wears has that damn 43 on it (like a first grader on the first day of school and can't remember his teacher's or his parents' names - he can't remember that he is 43, 4 - 3, damn it!), he has the cowboy boots, the belt buckles, the hats. He has a military jacket for every branch of the military - and has no hesitation to wear they every chance he gets. He looks like a two-bit, tin horn South American dictator (sorry to all legit two-bit, tin horn South American dictators). I'm willing to bet he has the presidential seal tattoo on his ass so Condi will have a special spot to kiss.

The boy loves him some dress up, much easier than playing the real thing. He has been a fake his entire life and nothing will change between now and the day he kicks the bucket. Of course, that cod piece will go down in infamy as his biggest costume of all. Although, him and Hassert wearing hard hats and lab coats looked like Tweedledee and Tweedledum was beyond stupid and fricking hilarious if it weren't so sad and pathetic. I'm thinking he is still trying to make up for the days when he was a lad and he wanted a Cisco Kid costume and Babs said no.

unlike Cheney, I bet, Clinton did not believe in the war!!!! Apparently, he decided that if his number was called, he would serve.

45. Suggest you read the summary at the link below that says,
"That Bill Clinton went to great lengths to avoid the Vietnam-era draft, that he used political connections to obtain special favors, and that he made promises and commitments which he later failed to honor, are all beyond dispute."

Urban Legends re Bill Clinton and the draft.

The web has numerous statements by Clinton confirming that he tried to avoid the draft because he did not agree with the war in Viet Nam.

Among the more infamous statements by Clinton's is, " No government really rooted in limited, parliamentary democracy should have the power to make its citizens fight and kill and die in a war they may oppose, a war which even possibly may be wrong, a war which, in any case, does not involve immediately the peace and freedom of the nation." See Bill Clinton's Draft Letter.

32. Yes, he did. But in his defense, he didn't try to LIE about his service;
he admitted it was a war he "despised and objected to".
He also rescinded the deferment in 1969, iirc.

17. Are you certain that Ike resigned his rank of General of the Army?
Edited on Thu Aug-24-06 05:50 PM by jody
I answered my question.

QUOTE
Regulations concerning the rank of General of the Army state that any officer holding the position will remain on active duty for life. It was for this reason that Dwight Eisenhower resigned his commission to serve as President of the United States, since the office of president can not legally be filled by an active duty U.S. military officer. Eisenhower's rank was later commemorated on the signs denoting Interstate Highways as part of the Eisenhower Interstate System, which display 5 silver stars on a light blue background.

12. I love what G. Gordon Liddy said on Hardballs
"he's wearing his parachute harness, you know -- and I've worn those because I parachute -- and it makes the best of his manly characteristic. You go run those -- run that stuff again of him walking across there with the parachute. He has just won every woman's vote in the United States of America. You know, all those women who say size doesn't count -- they're all liars. Check that out."

COULTER: "It's stunning. It's amazing. I think it's huge."

(I mean, he's landing on a boat at 150 miles per hour. It's tremendous. It's hard to imagine any Democrat being able to do that. And it doesn't matter if Democrats try to ridicule it. It's stunning, and it speaks for itself.)

God, these people pain me....

in WWI he was part of the Admiralty and in WWII he was not only PM, but Defense Minister. In his younger days, he was a Liberal PM and many of the social changes in England are attributed to Churchill.

From that snazzy grey jacket a few years ago (I think it was Marine) to the bomber-types -- all with the special little logo and/or "George W. Bush, President." :puke:

I can't wait until they give him epaulets and a little hat, too.

(Actually, he'd look just like an organ grinder's monkey.)

"It sounded like the kind of PR stunt that Bill Clinton would pull."
Then what happened, he realized BushCo was trying to appeal to idiots and thought oh what a great idea.
Than Caddell said "I was originally appalled, particularly when I heard he was going in an F-18. But -- on there -- but the -- but you know, that was --"
Than he realized the idiots aren't going to know the difference so it's ok. What the hell is wrong with these people.

48. Hypocritical, draft-dodger Bush
wore a cheap, theatrical costume on the aircraft carrier and his wearing it was and is an insult to our troops. Has Bush even bothered to attend a funeral yet of any American soldier he sent to their death in Iraq? If so, did he wear a military uniform?

What about George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Ulysses Grant? Did they all eschew military uniforms when in office?
