Scientists Harvest Stem Cells Without Destroying Embryo
WEDNESDAY, Aug. 23 (HealthDay News) -- In what could prove to be a medical milestone, researchers have succeeded in generating new lines of human embryonic stem cells without destroying the embryo.

If this is a dupe, let me know. I thought this was pretty interesting and hopefully will be able to be a compromise for both sides.

2. What's the point?
Now the 400,000 embryos that are thrown in the trash will have no purpose? It's not like this is saving embryos from destruction, and the Christianists will still not be satisfied. It's just a phony front for bushco to satisfy the American Christo-fascists.

4. So the idiot son of an
asshole figured out a way to create lines of stem cells without harming the embryo?

5. The research is sure to be useful, one way or another.
It's just the atmosphere that this research has to be done in now,
the Repuke party's hypocritical insistance on the sanctity of
unborn life, that is sick.

6. No I was referring to the issue he has made of saving the unborn.
The number of embryos that are disposed of anyway, makes the whole arguement pointless.

7. Can you at least concede that it is good news...
to have a method to harvest stem cells that don't harm the embryo thereboy taking the wind out of the right-wing argument?

10. There is no wind in their argument.
I applaud the research but refuse to acknowledge the argument. Their is still a number of people who believe that any manipulation of embryos is immoral, particularly the Catholic Church. They will not be satisfied by this.

3. So what are they going to do with the embryo they began with?
I'm all for stem-cell research, and I don't consider
emryos of one or two days old to have rights.
And they obviously don't have feelings to worry about.

But I can't help asking the awkward question.

8. I would think this would be a good thing.
They could start new stem-cell lines from the embryos without harming them before throwing them in the trash.

9. How much time and money were spent on this instead of
curing diseases?

Over whether the embryo is destoryed by using the stem cells, or if the stem cells are used without destroying the embryo and it's destroyed separately.
