Wisconsin DUers! Who is behind those anti anti-gay marriage ads TV ads?
I just got back from a vacation in Door County and saw two versions of the ads played A LOT on TV. I'd love to know more about the background of them.

I found the ads intriguing in that they played on people's concern that the anti-gay marriage legislation would affect more than just gays. I have a bit of a concern that it could be interpeted that as long a just gays are targetted, it's okay.

Would love to know more. Also, if anybody has access to playing it and can get a link, I think the rest of DU would love seeing them. They are very well done.

1. I wouldn't be concerned,
there are many who don't realize that their STRAIGHT domestic partnerships are next in line for the social conservatives' chopping block. We already have people getting canned from their jobs for cohabiting. It can only help if people are made aware that their own freedom is at stake when the freedom of others is at stake.

This not just legislation....State Constitutional Amendment the cons have been fighting to get on the ballot for two years.

The Language:

"Only a marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state. A legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized in this state."

A FAIR Wisconsin Votes NO!

We do not want the State constitution amended with this awful language.

Not only does this amendment effect same sex couples...(who it was directly targeted at) But stupidly the Republican state house and senate also knocked down ANY thing that resemebled a marriage. Not simply between same sex couples. It forces marriage on unmarried heterosexual partners. It opens the door for denail of health benefits. It forces cohabitating seniors to live without common law recognition or shared benefits.

Why the ban must be voted down:

3. I think it's great that FAIR has enough money to run the ad a lot
It is very effective, having "ordinary" (read: straight) people discussing the language of the amendment with real skepticism.

Thanks for the link.

Now can you do something about that guy Gard?
