BANGKOK - The U.S. schoolteacher suspected of murdering child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey left Thailand yesterday on a plane bound for the United States, where he will face questions about the 1996 killing -- and about new revelations that he sought treatment at a Thai sex-change clinic.

John Mark Karr, 41, was aboard a Thai Airways flight that took off yesterday morning and was scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles last night.

Mr. Karr was arrested in Bangkok on Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree murder, kidnapping and child sexual assault. He told reporters he had been with the six-year-old when she died at Christmas a decade ago but that her death was an accident.

His departure from Thailand was marked by news that he had sought surgery at a gender reassignment clinic in central Bangkok.

While he didn't kill JonBenet, he did help grind up Jimmy Hoffa's body and make sausage that was sold in 12 states under the Jimmy Dean label?

8. The story is even stranger than THAT

Some published accounts give the name of the doctor arranging Karr's sexual re-assignment surgery as Doctor Thep Vechavisit. One site describes that man thusly:

"Doctor Thep Vechavisit has no licence to practise, but makes cosmetic operations at Pratunam Polyclinic."

So, didja hear the one about the wanna-be female who may be a wanna-be murderer who went to see a wanna-be doctor?
