Bush: "particularly since I dissed that just ridiculous-looking outfit."

The president doesnt like my suit
By Ken Herman | Monday, August 21, 2006, 12:16 PM

Theres much going on around the world and President Bush addressed most of it during todays news conference.

But he also found time thrice to critique my choice of attire for the day. I went with seersucker in recognition of the ongoing heat and humidity of DC in the summer. (And because my wife advised me that summers end is near and its time for a final wearing of the summer stuff.)

The leader of the free world/fashion critic was unimpressed.

By the way, seersucker is coming back. I hope everybody gets it, Bush told me when he first noticed my suit.

...

I may be the only person the only presidential candidate who never carried the state in which he was born, Bush said. Do you think thats right, Herman? Of course, you would have researched that and dropped it out for everybody to see, particularly since I dissed that just ridiculous-looking outfit.

A few minutes later, when Bush called on me for a question, I stood and awaited further sartorial abuse.

Go ahead, I said, inviting another jab or two.

I dont need to now that youve stood up, and everybody can clearly see for themselves, he said.

5. Seersucker=Old Money; tradition; classic; cool
But that tasteless asshole's brain is too fried to get it. He'd rather sqeeze his sweaty, pimply ass into a pair of jeans in Crawford when the temperature is 103!

The guy's ending is brilliant: Give seersucker a chance. It can be a good choice when youre taking heat.

27. I had read the article
I guess I saw it from a different angle than you did.

This:

"For the record, as Bush noted during the news conference, I have been covering him for many years, back to his first gubernatorial campaign. We have traded a good-natured barb or two over the years.

No insult taken to your haberdashery remarks, sir."

Read as humor to me while still drawing attention to the fact that the president was making inappropriate jokes about clothing amid such serious topics as the war in Iraq, the Israel/Lebanon crisis and hurricane Katrina.

12. So Chucklenuts thinks in the middle of the serious issues of
the day he thinks it is entirely appropriate to call someone's suit ridiculous at a press conference. And the drones in attendance actually laughed. Priceless.

Why on earth do they even bother attending the PR shams Chimpy calls a press conference? I watch the damn thing this morning and thought Chimpy was especially tacky, mean, clueless and uninformed. He was robotic, reading from a cheat sheet, couldn't say mush if he had a mouthful of it and now, mean and tasteless.

I'm guessing since he is back at the White House Chimpy is missing his daily bike rides in the 100 heat while forcing his secret service run along side of him trying to keep up. He needs somebody to make fun of to keep himself amused. This is a guy who tortured small animals as a child, cheated in college, skipped out on Air National Guard obligations, ridicules esteemed news people (Helen Thomas) and now has the gall to criticize someone's attire at a press conference.

And THIS is the best the repugs have to offer? This man is a coked-up, alcoholic, brain dead, stupid, stupid moran. Can we make it another two years with this asswipe?

Bush To Legally Blind Reporter: 'You gonna ask a question w/ shades on?'

From 6-14-06

At a press conference this morning, President Bush needled Los Angeles Times reporter Peter Wallsten after he stood up to ask a question wearing sunglasses. Are you going to ask that question with shades on? Bush said, telling Wallsten, Im interested in the shade look, seriously.

But as Wonkette first noted, and which ThinkProgress subsquently confirmed, Wallsten is legally blind. Wallsten tells us he has a rare genetic disorder called Stargardts Disease. The disease is a form of macular degeneration that can be slowed by wearing UV-protective sunglasses and avoiding exposure to bright light.

Wallsten said Bushs comments did not offend him at all. I never advertise it to him. Ive never told him.

Transcript below:

THE PRESIDENT: Yes, Peter. Are you going to ask that question with shades on?

Q I can take them off.

THE PRESIDENT: Im interested in the shade look, seriously.

Q All right, Ill keep it, then.

THE PRESIDENT: For the viewers, theres no sun. (Laughter.)

Q I guess it depends on your perspective. (Laughter.)

THE PRESIDENT: Touche. (Laughter.)

Q Following up on the other Peters question about Karl Rove, you said that you were relieved with what happened yesterday. But the American public, over the course of this investigation, has learned a lot about what was going on in your White House that they didnt know before, during that time, the way some people were trying to go after Joe Wilson, in some ways. Im wondering if, over the course of this investigation, that you have learned anything that you didnt know before about what was going on in your administration. And do you have any work to do to rebuild credibility that might have been lost?

THE PRESIDENT: I think that first of all, the decision by the prosecutor speaks for itself. He had a full investigation. Karl Rove went in front of the grand jury like I dont a lot of times. More times than they took a hard look at his role.

Secondly, as I told the other Peter, Im going to tell you, that theres an ongoing trial, its a serious business. And Ive made the comments Im going to make about this incident, and Im going to put this part of the situation behind us and move forward.

62. What a nice guy... NOT!!!
What kind of pathology do we have here - in a schmuck who delights in belittling others in public? Does he think that makes him look smart? Hip? Cool? Better-than-you?

WHAT AN ASS.

Keep visualizing, people...

67. Well, only suckers buy clothes at Sears!
And you did wear something different. Didn't you know you were attracting the Monkey's attention? Didn't you know that someone showed him "Inherit the Wind" years ago, and he's now afraid of anyone who looks like me might be a smart, compassionate lawyer from that movie?

He has no manners, no respect for others, no dignity, no shame.
