Radical Leftist? Goddamned right I am.
When a radical rightist calls any liberal a radical, wild eyed leftist, he of course is insulting them, but I am not insulted by this label. I wear it like a badge of honor, as Dan Quayle once uttered. The only people who can counteract radical rightists are radical leftists.

There is a cartoon image of a radical leftist, a drugged out hippie, burning a flag, throwing bombs, rioting in the streets, but that is not what I am. I am just a citizen who is tired of this bullshit, and if something radical needs to be said or done against the radical right maniacs currently conquering the globe, then so be it.

Radical doesn't necessarily mean violence, neither does revolution, both can be brought about without a single drop of blood, without a single bomb or bullet, believe it or not.

How can you seriously take the accusation of being a radical when the president has killed unknown thousands of innocent people and stolen two elections and trillions of dollars?

Who are the real radicals here, them or us? They have radically fucked everything up, and only a radically opposing force can overcome them.

Instead of cozying up to bush, I want someone to oppose him, radically. Instead of agreeing with his policies, I want to see some radical disagreeing. Instead of letting him piss on the constitution instead of defending it, radical leftists should come forward and say aloud what needs to be said. I don't hear or see anyone doing that.

Stop taking the label of radical leftist as some sort of insult from radical rightists. Oppose them on every level and issue, radically, and hurry it the fuck up.

Is it radical to want what I want? Am I a radical? If so, so be it, bush made me that way.

3. I wonder something
Do radical leftists have an extensive history of throwing bombs and rioting in the streets in this country? Or is this just the stereotype the radical right want everyone to buy into?

I was only a handful of years old then and the most important things in life were kisses and grandma's candy drawer.

8. The writers of the constitution were
considered very radical by their fellow countrymen. Reading a great book this week called "A Brilliant Solution: Inventing the American Constitution". Details who the writers were and how they fought and argued that summer they met to write the constitution.

Their state leadership who sent delegates to the convention didn't necessarily intend for them to invent the constitution and form a new govt. The intention was to fix what was already in place. It's a great story.

Thank g*d for their radical ideas!!

12. I saw that book somewhere and it looked interesting.
But you are correct, the convention was originally suppose to fix the articles, but a core group, the radicals, realized that it was in such trouble that they were going to have to start from scratch which at the time was a very radical idea and there was much concern as to how it would be perceived by the people.

(prior to ebay-gotta read, finding many blogable stuff re-georgie) and just finished 1st british(greece unreadably boring, rome good), and started 2nd britain.

WE. assministration, sounds a LOT like the leaders of the redcoats in what they say about iWaq. the parallels are endless, abu ghraib! (back then siccing indians on the americans). of course georgie has napoleon syndrome and oedipal. lots of napoleon in him.

And the more I see what Bush, et al are capable of, I veer ever more leftward.

24. The political compass of the US is off-whack
The 'far left' that they accuse us of being is actually pretty reasonable compared to the far right that the 'moderately right' right wing actually is.

They're just to insular to realize that.

26. Notice how
you never, ever hear a whisper of the phrase "radical right" on any of the so-called mainstream media even though this administration and congress are the most radical right in recent history. On the other hand, the term "radical leftist" gets thrown around everywhere. Oh, and by-the-way, why are we called "leftists" but they aren't called "rightists"? According to the dictionary, "rightist" is the opposite of "leftist". But I don't know if I've ever even heard that term used.

You are right. They are the radicals and it will take more than milquetoast opposition to keep them from ruining our country.
