Democrats had sneak peek at GOP playbook months ago
Yet now they seem surprised by Republicans' attack that they're weak on defense
By JULIE MASON
Houston Chronicle Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON Democrats caught flat-footed by the Bush administration tactic of linking the war in Iraq with the larger war against terrorism, and campaigning hard on both, have only themselves to blame. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove gave the playbook away seven months ago.

Right on schedule, the White House stepped up its rhetoric last week, portraying President Bush and the Republican Party as the better choice for defending America against terrorism. Their case got a boost from the recent airline-terror-plot arrests in Great Britain, which served as a timely reminder against complacency in what Bush frequently calls "a time of war." Vice President Dick Cheney has made notable use of the strategy, contending that a vote for Democratic candidates could put the nation in danger...

In January, Rove gave a speech in Washington to the Republican National Committee that explicitly previewed how the GOP planned to portray Democrats as a threat to national security a strategy that helped win the 2004 presidential election for Bush.

"Republicans have a post-9/11 worldview, and many Democrats have a pre-9/11 worldview," Rove said. "That doesn't make them unpatriotic, not at all. 2. They must sti through some long and painful meetings trying to make
it all sound fresh and worse.

They are going to trip themselves.

They are playing with a country that has a 'no bs' attitude when it comes to losing their kids and running up unrational debt - especially to ousiders. They don't like the idea of their kids making $7.25 (soon, maybe, for the next ten years) - if there are no jobs in this country after paying a fortune for or assisting with tuitions and rooming.

3. When will they EVER LEARN! When?
How many more failed and stolen elections before they understand "THE SCRIPT!"

Ugh!
