Would Party Support Joe? is the banner headline across the top of the Courant, with charts and graphs even, showing the Quinnepiac poll results. Wow! That's a big story! Any other important news happen yesterday? Hmm...there is a story about how detectives solve cold cases. Hmm, here's a piece about the JBR killer possibly being a bit touched in the head. There's a pretty big headline about the Red Sox and Yankees. Down at the bottom there are a couple of the usual teaser boxes promoting stories inside the paper, and then the little "index" box in the lower left corner...no, waitaminute...that's not the index box! That's the "story" about the NSA wiretap ruling! It is so small, and for some reason it is even set in a non-standard font for the Courant, a casual sans-serif font (no "little feet" on the letters) usually reserved for teasers and promos. But no...there is a tiny thumbnail picture of Judge Taylor (in color, no less, further adding to the impression that the box was just a teaser frame), and the stunningly understated "headline," if you could call it that, Judge decries eavesdropping. "Critics see likely overturn on appeal" or soThe manage to actually get about two full paragraphs in before the story jumps to the inside.
After all, it's not like the story is about anything important!
This is what we're up against, folks. The darling of the right, Joe Mentum, will get all the propping up the corporate media can give him, while at the same time supporting the GOP base by continueing to ignore the lawbreaking of the president. I guess when your state is Diebold-less, the press has to work doubly hard to skew the contest.
